Baltimore Casino Trains Future Dealers at Horseshoe Academy

With new positions opening up on the casino floor in Horseshoe Casino, students are learning the art of dealing to snatch up one of the available posts.

There are 400 students at the Horseshoe dealer academy, where prospective croupiers learn to navigate table games beyond those found in the US poker room
, like blackjack, craps and roulette.

The course spans a 12-week period, and will educate future dealers in the art of hosting table games.

More and more land-based casinos are popping up all over the US, despite the expected belief that the change in the US gambling laws would shift gaming online, and Baltimore is no exception.

Future dealers get ready to play at Horseshoe Casino academy

The Horseshoe Casino is nearly completed, and is expected to take on more than 600 dealers. The classes on offer in the warehouse setting are being covered by the casino itself.

Most of the students are novices when it comes to table games, but should be ready to take on the casino tables once they’ve completed the course. In order to qualify, they must also pass background and drug tests. Those who get in will get a nice $41,000 salary plus tips.

While the casino can teach the students the rules, techniques and skills required to be a good dealer, the alumni of the course will need to engage customers and reel them back.

Those who qualified for the course were picked based on their people skills and attitude.
