With Investec Epsom Downs Racecourse on its way, Britain is all about horse races at the moment with punters placing bets on their favorite horses.
The Oaks Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in the UK for three-year old thoroughbred fillies. It takes place at Epsom Down with a distance over 2,000 meters, taking place in the beginning of June every year.
The Oaks Stakes is the third of Britain’s five Classic races, as well as the second of the two, which is only for fillies. Specialists consider it to be the middle leg of the Fillies’ Triple Crown, preceded by the 1,000 Guineas and followed by the St. Leger. Usually, the attempt to win all three isn’t successful as it’s considered extremely hard.
Results
All bettors who put their money on the filly Marvellous, Aidan O’Brien-trained daughter of Galileo, didn’t make a mistake at the end of last week, as she won the Irish 1000 Guineas at Curragh, which brought 30th Irish Classic for O’Brien and sixth win in the Curragh feature.
Excellent performance of some of the best racing horses pre Epsom Downs
• Marvellous won 1,000 Guineas race
• Jersey Brown finished second at Windsor
• Piazon finished first in his race at Windsor
After this amazing performance, punters who bet on sports in Britain will have even more reasons to support her for the upcoming Epsom Classic, as she’s the third favorite.
She’s behind Dermot Weld’s Tarfasha at 6/1 and is expected to follow the steps of Imagine, another O’Brien’s, who triumphed at Guineas before her Oaks victory.
In yesterday’s Class 5 handicap Windsor races Mick Channon’s Jersey Brown, looked like the perfect choice for the first place. Unibet, following all UK gambling laws, gave it 6/1, but Space Walker managed to perform better and occupied the 1st place.
Channon was producing great winners lately, adding eight more to his total in the last 2 weeks, keeping the hopes quite high for Jersey Brown, but unfortunately nothing more than second place could be achieved.
Piazon’s success
On the other hand, Michael Bell’s Piazon performed excellent as expected and finished first in the Class 4 App Handicap. Piazon was paired with the gifted trainee Louis Steward, who was with him for the first time at Yarmouth in April.
On Good ground they mastered over Stuart Williams’ Nova Champ later winning at Newmarket.
After rather slow start in Nottingham, he finished second in a race against impressive horses like One Boy, Skye’s The Limit and Scarborough, who then finished behind him.
Piazon didn’t perform at his best in York 10 days ago, but his race yesterday proved that it was worth betting on him at 5/2.
