The fantastic turnout of 1,795 entries breaks a WPT record, attracting the attention of the poker pros and fans.
The 2014 World Poker Tour Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown main event made it into the gambling news after it was announced that the $3,500 buy-in event would be backed by an amazing $5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.
That meant that a record number of entries should be made, which happened after the end of the registration on day 1C, when a total of 1,795 entries had been made.
This is how a record was set, for the largest field in the 12-year history of the WPT, bringing the total prize pool to $5,763,150.
Traditions are kept
All of the players, who are still in the game, conducted under US gambling laws, are hoping to get the title and the first-place prize of $1,081,184.
The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood has surpassed already high guarantee in the past as well. The latest example was in August of 2013 during the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open, when the guaranteed prize pool was $10,000,000 with a $5,000 buy-in for the main event.
Blair Hinkle was the big winner among the 2,384 entries who won $1,745,245 from a prize pool of over $11.9 million.
