Bookmakers in the town of Rugby, Warwickshire are operating under extra-strict security measures after several robberies of betting houses in the region.
The Warwickshire police reported a robbery at Coral bookies in Bilton and another burglary attempted at Coral in Hillmorton Road last week, which provoked the “enhanced security measures” of other betting houses in the area.
This gambling news came along with the information that there have been reports about another three incidents at bookmakers around the same location. They all mention a man dressed in grey hoodie, who is said to have approached the shops, kicked at the entrance doors and then ran away.
The local authorities are taking the necessary measures
The reported incidents took place at Coral in The Green, Bilton, Coral in Bridget Street and Ladbrokes in Clifton Road, all operating under UK gambling laws. The local police are considering these incidents as suspicious and is making an attempt to find the lawbreaker.
Roy Wheelwright, detective Inspector from Rugby Criminal lnvestigation Department, commented: “Although we cannot rule out that there is a link between these incidents and those from last week, they have different characteristics and we remain open minded.”
He added: “We welcome any information from witnesses who may have seen these latest incidents at Coral bookmakers on The Green in Bilton, Coral bookmakers in Bridget Street and Ladbrokes in Clifton Road.”
