Mobile Gambling is On in Chinese Casino Destination Macau

The new slot game rules introduced in Macau will allow gambling establishment guests putting wagers in Chinese mobile casinos using their smartphones and tablets while inside a land based casino.

The new rules are already in effect. Industry analysts expect a boom in mobile gambling on the wireless networks “inside gambling areas especially authorized” by Macau regulators.

The new gambling laws also define that the mobile slot gaming area must be located within a 500-meter range of a casino or resorts, and also “not integrated in a densely populated area”.

As a result of the new regulation, Melco Crown is considering the relocation of four or five of their Mocha Club slot game lounges.

In related Chinese gambling news, Angela Leong On Kei, the executive director SJM Holding wants to introduce a full smoking ban in every Macau casino. Leong On Kei opines: “I am totally in favor of a full smoking ban inside casinos.”

Leong emphasizes that the partial ban demanded by the Chinese gambling laws will be almost impossible to enforce, therefore it is easier for the operators to apply a total ban. Leong added: “It is very hard, in such a short period, for casino operators to be able to finish all the works to create smoking areas.”

Macau’s Secretary for Economy and Finance wants more non-gaming attractions in the Enclave. Secretary Tam informed non-gaming elements are essential for the Macau economy, saying: “Casino operators have to include other amenities in their properties, such as more entertainment and theater shows, to attract more visitors that do not want only to gamble.”
