The renewed deal enables the development of the required ring-fenced poker products for Betfair.
British gambling news
sources confirmed that Betfair formed a partnership agreement with Playtech to add poker and bingo titles to its suit of games.
Playtech has supplied Betfair with a full range of British internet casino game applications since 2009. The partnership is now extended with the renewal of the contract for the provision of gambling and gaming services. Betfair websites and mobile portals will soon be offering the new Playtech games to their customers.
The new deal enables Betfair to develop the so-called ring-fenced poker products that among others the British gambling laws might soon require.
Betfair and Playtech are about to launch a full-licensed local poker site in Spain in the near future. After the licensed betting exchange is launched in Italy, the two companies plan to develop a similar service in the country.
Ian Chuter, Group Operations Director at Betfair, commented on the announcement: “Betfair has built a strong relationship with Playtech over a number of years and after a full evaluation of the available options, they were the logical choice for providing us with what we now need.”
Chuter emphasized the benefits saying: “This deal allows us to offer a compliant Poker solution in markets where historically we have not been able to and the wider agreement is further evidence of how serious we are in providing our customers with a high quality one-stop shop for all their betting needs.”
Rafi Ashkenazi, Chief Operating Officer of Playtech added: “We are delighted to be expanding our successful relationship with Betfair with the development of Bingo and Poker services in addition to Casino. The agreement is a testament to Playtech’s ability to offer a full suite of market leading online products and we look forward to continuing to work with Betfair.”
