Poker Players Alliance research shows majority of its members would change vote if candidate supports US online poker

Good news for those who want to play online poker in USA. The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) is an association of poker fans with a membership of over 1.2 million in America. According to them, times are good for a positive change in US legislation of online poker.

Most American gambling laws practically do not allow real-money bets on online poker sites. The government tries to ban American players from playing on foreign servers by making online payment to these websites impossible. However, every year hundreds of thousands of Americans try to bypass the ban.

PPA urges American poker players to put pressure on their political representatives and ask for the total legalization of online poker in the USA. The PPA rates each member of Congress on their support poker in online casinos in United States, giving an easy-to-use guide for its members for political action.

John Pappas, executive director of the PPA said: “Six years ago, two-thirds of the U.S. House publicly and proudly voted to prohibit online poker. Today, the vocal opponents of online poker in the Congress are approaching extinction. In fact, even some who voted in favor of the 2006 prohibition are the most ardent supporters of a regulated marketplace that gives adult Americans the freedom to play poker online.”

With the presidential election coming soon, their stand on online poker can be in important factor in choosing a candidate. In Ohio and North Carolina, two states that often decide the outcome of elections, 60 percent of PPA member conducted in a survey stated they would even change their vote for candidate who supports online poker. This number is 66 percent In Florida, the state which decided the 2000 & 2004 elections.
