Danish poker player returns to the big poker scene with a new sponsorship deal with Betfair

Peter Eastgate shocked the world of professional poker back in 2008, when he won the World Series of Poker main event at the age of 21. He took the honors, the winner’s bracelet and a hefty $9 million and some change prize.

Since then, he seemed to distant himself from poker only making headlines in Danish gambling news hosting an charity auction for his winner’s bracelet.

Later on he was picked up by Poker Stars to represent the company at worldwide and Danish poker rooms. His retirement from professional poker was short-lived in 2010, he came back for more, but failed to produce any impressive results.

Now, the young genius is back in the headlines revealing that he signed a sponsorship deal with Betfair, operating in full compliance with Danish gambling laws.

He issued an official statement sharing his thoughts on stress from being a poker celebrity. Eastgate also mentioned several reasons for his brief retirement from professional play including family and friends. The young pro is now back for more and hopes to continue showing off what he is capable of.

Eastgate told the media: “Having had time to think about my life and future I feel I have figured out how I can combine playing poker with a healthy life outside of poker. I do not consider this a comeback, as I always knew there was a good chance I would play poker again.”
