Rules for Skill Based Gaming in New Jersey Released

Legislators have released temporary rules for skill based gaming in New Jersey, bringing X-box style games to Atlantic City casinos.

“Skill based gaming means any […] casino game where game outcome is dependent in whole or in part upon the player’s physical dexterity and/or mental ability,” puts the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement’s temporary ruling. The document was released on February 23, accompanied by a press release with the Division director’s, David Rebuck’s, comments. Rebuck did not hide the fact that they’re targeting millennials with the introduction of skill-based gaming in New Jersey casinos. According to him, this is a “cutting edge area that converges traditional casino gaming with the skill-based gaming so popular with millennials.”

Clear guidelines for skill based gaming in New Jersey

US gambling news say that the Division was authorized to approve skill based gaming in New Jersey for some time. However, the manufacturers wanted clear guidelines for these new products before working on them. Rebuck hopes that “the clarity provided by these regulations will bring even more submissions,” by manufacturers. If the game-providers submit their game to New Jersey before any other state, the machines can be on the casino floors within 14 days following their test and approval.
