Ontario State Lottery Ventures into Online Gaming Operations

Ontario lottery is planning to offer online gaming to the provinces' population
Otario’s state lottery is to enter the world of online gambling. The lottery from the most populated province of Canada recently announced that it selected Sports Gaming Limited to help with consultations in regards to the online gaming transition.
Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation (OLG) operating under full compliance with Canadian gambling laws,last year indicated it wanted to venture into online gambling operations following the example of Columbia and Quebec.
Canada gambling news learned that Sports Gaming Limited won the right to assist the Corporation after a transparent, thorough and competitive selection process. Ontario state lottery is set to go online in 2012.
The Corporation issued the following press release: “Between now & 2012 when the program is set to launch, OLG will benefit from analyzing & enhancing best practices & security procedures adopted in other jurisdictions across Canada & in Europe. In particular, OLG will implement a strong responsible gambling program & offer increased player protections, secure transactions & data privacy.”
OLG will strive to deliver a well-managed, appealing and well-directed online gaming site to meet the expectations of Ontario citizens and increase the provinces net profit.
OLG also put forward five most important “public interest” principles in regards to its online gaming business:
- Protect Personal Information
- Ensure the Integrity of Games
- Promote Responsible Gambling
- Prevent Access by Minors
- Support the Detection of Money Laundering & other Criminal Activity
