The Croatian squad is yet to lose a game and have played very well. However, it was not enough for the top spot as the Moroccan team was too good. Thanks to inexperienced Canada and an aging Belgian ‘golden generation’ were on course to go through to face Japan. It has to be said that the Croatian team is not much younger than the Belgians, in fact they have one of the oldest attacking set of players whose average age is between 30 and 31. Whatsoever, that did not let them down; and this is a thing about the Croatian national team – nobody expects them to do too good, but every time they subvert expectations.
