The world ranking leader Iga Swiatek can win her 2nd Grand Slam title in the season
There is less than a week until the start of the 2022 US Open. So it’s time to check the biggest favorites in the women’s tournament. Emma Raducanu is the defending champion after winning her first Grand Slam title at the age of only 18. She hasn’t been in the same form since.
But playing at Flushing Meadows again might boost her performance. The 2022 US Open Women’s winner odds favor the world No1 Iga Swiatek to win her second Grand Slam title of the season ahead of other former champions.
Tennis fans could witness several great moments in the women’s game already this year. From Iga Swiatek’s amazing performance to Elena Rybakina’s victory in Wimbledon. Ashleigh Barty defended her title in the Australian Open then decided to retire at the age of 25. While the legend of the sport, Serena Williams has also announced that the 2022 US Open will be her last tournament.
She will have one more last chance to equal the all-time record of Margaret Court’s 24 Grand Slam titles. But her chance of winning now is not very high after missing most of the season due to injuries. Emma Raducanu is the defending champion who hasn’t had the best year either. Unlike the following players who can all win the final Grand Slam of the year.
Swiatek Leads the 2022 US Open Women’s Winner Odds
Iga Swiatek has won six titles this year including five WTA 1000 tournaments and the 2022 French Open. It was her second Grand Slam title following her first victory also in Paris in 2020. Now online sportsbooks in Poland offer the smallest odds, 4.10 for her win in New York too.
Even though Swiatek hasn’t had such great results from this tournament. Last year she reached the fourth round here which has been her best performance so far. The world No1 is the top seed now. But she needs to perform much better than in Toronto or in Cincinnati where she was knocked out in the third round.
Another top favorite in the 2022 US Open Women’s winner odds is a former world No1, Simona Halep. Following injuries and a decline in form, the Romanian player is among the best players again after reaching the semi-final in Wimbledon. She also won the Canadian Open two weeks ago, proving her skills. With her 24th WTA Tour title, Halep returned to the top 10 in the world rankings.
Hard court is not her strongest surface. But she still managed to reach the semi-final once, in the 2015 US Open. Her odds to go all the way now are 8.30. While the surprise winner of the 2022 Wimbledon Championship, Elena Rybakina’s odds to win in New York are 12.50. The Kazakh player got to the quarter-finals in Cincinnati and can achieve another good result next week.
Former US Open Champions and Other Favorites
Naomi Osaka won the US Open twice before, in 2018 and 2020. But she is not seeded this time. The 24-year-old Japanese player suffered from mental and physical issues and missed most of the last two seasons. She reached the final of the Miami Open in March. She was knocked out in the first round though in the French Open. After missing Wimbledon, Osaka played again in the Silicon Valley Classics.

There she lost against Coco Gauff in the second round. But Osaka knows how to win in New York and has the odds of 14.00 to get the trophy again. While the victory of six-time US Open champion Serena Williams would be a small miracle.
The 40-year-old star hasn’t played much either this year. She won her first match in 14 months at the Canadian Open. Then she lost against Belinda Bencic in the second round. Williams was also beaten by the defending US Open champion, Emma Raducanu in Cincinnati. Now her odds to win again are 31.00. Online gambling sites in Poland offer a bigger chance of Raducanu’s win with the odds of 15.00.
The young British player got to the quarter-finals in Washington this month which has been her best result of the season. Same odds are offered for another young talent, Cori Gauff’s victory. She reached her first Grand Slam final in the 2022 French Open. While the 18-year-old American also got to the quarter-finals in San Jose and in Canada which can be promising signs ahead of her local tournament.
