2022 Tour of Denmark Prediction Mentions Laporte and Thomas as Top Favorites

Following the huge success of the first three Danish stages of this year’s Tour de France, there is a growing interest in the 2022 Tour of Denmark. Some of the biggest riders will take part in the five-day stage race between 16-20 August. Even though last year’s winner, Remco Evenepoel won’t compete this time. Unlike Christophe Laporte and Geraint Thomas who are the biggest favorites of the 2022 Tour of Denmark prediction. 

Cycling has always been popular in Denmark. But the recent Tour de France success of Jonas Vingegaard and other great results from Danish riders have only made local fans more enthusiastic. The whole world could see this atmosphere in the first three stages of this year’s Tour de France which was held in the country. And now Denmark will host another stage race, the Tour of Denmark with several top cyclists also taking part in it.

Including Tour de France and Giro d’Italia winner Egan Bernal. The Columbian will make his return following his huge crash in January. He won’t be a major contender though unlike his Ineos teammates, Geraint Thomas, Michal Kwiatkowski, and Magnus Sheffield. Along with the French Jumbo cyclist, Christophe Laporte, and the Danish favorites, Skjelmose, Cort, and Kragh. 

2022 Tour of Denmark Prediction Favor Laporte Ahead of Ineos Riders

Christophe Laporte won his first Grand Tour stage in the 2022 Tour de France. And he also finished as a runner-up in two one-day classics. At the E3 Saxo Bank Classic and the Gent-Wevelgem. Laporte also won the first stage in the 2022 Paris-Nice and was a key help in Jonas Vingegaard’s victory at the Tour. Now the 29-year-old French is the top favorite of online sportsbooks in Denmark to win this race with the odds of 3.00. He will be supported by strong teammates at Jumbo Visma while the last stage of the race seems perfect for the Frenchman. 

But he will face tough competitors in Ineos cyclists, Geraint Thomas, Magnus Sheffield, and Michal Kwiatkowski. Thomas finished third in the overall race of this year’s Tour de France, which he won back in 2018. The British cyclist has been struggling in recent years but got some great results this season. Of course, Danish fans will hope for a local victory as it happened on several previous occasions in the history of the race. Like in 2019 when Niklas Larsen won the overall race ahead of Jonas Vingegaard. Larsen will compete this year again but his chances of winning are less likely now in the much stronger field. Unlike his compatriot, Trek-Segafredo rider Mattias Skjelmose Jensen who has the odds of 6.40 to win the race.

The 21-year-old cyclist was second in the 2022 Tour de l’Ain and third in the Tour de la Provence. He also finished third in the 2022 Tour de Wallonie and in the time trial at the National Road Championship. His team is also strong with riders such as Jasper Stuyven and Quinn Simmons who can also fight for the overall title.
