Detailed Premier League Week 2 predictions for each match
In this article, you’ll find our predictions for each Premier League match for Week 2. Just like last time, we included additional betting tips for certain matches. We’ll talk about recent performances, chances and odds, possible outcomes, and changes on the table.
The first week of the season had some interesting results. There were upsets and impressive performances as well. This is what makes Premier League football so great. It’s impossible to fully guess the results of each match. There is barely a chance for the unthinkable to happen and yet at times it still does. In this article, we’re going to pick up on where we left off in our Premier League Week 1 predictions.
There Will be Plenty of Premier League Action on Saturday
As usual, most of the action will happen on Saturday. This week, 13 August will have seven matches, including five with a 15:00 kickoff time. The locations will vary from Birmingham, London, Falmer, Manchester, Southampton, Wolverhampton, and Brentford. Now let’s look at each matchup separately.
Week 1 was Disappointing for Both Aston Villa and Everton
Both clubs lost last week so it’s time to finally crack the ice. The last time these two played at Villa Park, Everton lost 3-0. Villa won both games from last season. This time around, Villa are the favourites once again. Online sportsbooks in the UK estimate Steven Gerrard’s boys to win with over 50% probability. As of right now, they sit at the 15th and 16th positions. While the odds for a draw aren’t necessarily low we think it’s more likely to see a win in Birmingham this Saturday.
Both teams put up decent performances last week but Everton’s loss was expected. Everton played all right against Chelsea and only lost by one goal so the outcome wasn’t a disastrous situation. On the other hand, Villa were the better team during their match against the newly promoted Bournemouth. They failed to convert their chances and only had two shots on target out of their fifteen attempts. The Birmingham side will look to correct their mistakes on Saturday at 12:30.
Arsenal vs Leicester – Premier League Week 2 Predictions
This match is already starting to draw in more attention. Last season, both of Arsenal’s matches against Leicester ended in 2-0 wins. The Gunners also started their season strong, beating Crystal Palace 2-0 in the season-opener. Leicester, much like others on this, later on, were considered the favourites during their Week 1 matches.
The Foxes gave up a 2-0 lead and Brentford leveled the score at the end. Leicester had the better game statistically but their lack of focus in the second half cost them two points. As for the table standings, Arsenal are currently 3rd with a 2-goal difference and Leicester are 11th.
The Premier League Week 2 predictions aren’t in the favour of Leicester. They’ll be playing at an away venue, against a team that seems to be more organized as of right now. According to experts, the visitors have around a 15% chance to win on Saturday. The Gunners have over 65% to earn another three points which should keep them near the top of the table for next week. For the exact odds, check out our Arsenal v Leicester betting tips.
The Balanced Matchup of Brighton and Newcastle
Both Brighton and Newcastle started their season with wins. The difference is that Brighton’s win over Manchester United wasn’t expected. It wasn’t impossible, but people expected the Red Devils to win their season-opener at Old Trafford. Recent history is on Newcastle’s side in this match. Brighton managed to draw with Newcastle the last time they played in Falmer. When they went to St. James’ Park, they lost 2-1. But Brighton seem to be in good form and they’re the favourites in their Week 2 match.
Online sportsbook sites in the UK give Brighton about a 40% of chance to win on 13 August. The possibility of a draw and Newcastle winning are both around 30%. If Brighton can recreate their offensive performance from last week they could be the winners here. Newcastle played great as well but it was against newly promoted Nottingham Forest. This match could go either way but we’re picking Brighton.
Bournemouth Take on Man City at the Etihad with Terrible Odds
Bournemouth shocked most of us when they beat Villa 2-0 in Week 1. But they’ll need more than luck if they want to win against Man City on Saturday. The game will be in the Etihad, nevertheless. It’s also impossible to ignore the head-to-head record between these two.
Bournemouth have never beaten City once. The last game between the two was also in Manchester which ended in 2-1 to the hosts. According to sites like 888sport, Bournemouth have little to no chance, 2% to be precise, to win against Guardiola’s side. For the exact and updated odds, check out our Man City v Bournemouth betting tips.

Manchester City look even scarier this season. They had one of the best summer transfer windows so far. With the addition of Erling Haaland, who scored two goals against West Ham last week, City’s attack seems near-impossible to stop. Talking about goals and attacks, check out our predictions for the 2023 Premier League goalscorer.
Premier League Week 2 Predictions for Southampton vs Leeds
This is one of the more balanced matchups of Week 2, or so it seems. The last match between the two ended in a draw. Comparatively, the last time Southampton hosted Leeds, they won 1-0 against the visitors. Leeds won against Wolves last week but they weren’t necessarily the better team. Southampton on the other hand got thrashed by Spurs, who are now 1st on the table on goal difference. But let’s not get distracted from the actual Premier League Week 2 predictions.
Southampton had a good transfer window compared to Leeds. They also have the home ground advantage on Saturday so online sportsbook sites in the UK pick them as the favourites for the game. Full-season predictions put both teams around mid-table by the end of the season too. We’re going with Southampton on this one.
Fulham Could Upset Wolverhampton in Week 2
As we mentioned just now, Wolves lost to Leeds last week. Fulham on the other hand were able to draw with Liverpool, to everyone’s surprise. Fulham are a club that changes division often. Yet, the ability to have the lead against the Community Shield winners most of the match is impressive. The odds for this Saturday match are nothing crazy and there’s not much difference between them. Wolves have about a 40% chance to win while Fulham have a 30%. A draw is also very likely with 30%.
Aleksandar Mitrovic’s ability to score frequently in the Premier League as well is astonishing. So even with Wolves being at home at Molineux Stadion, we think Fulham can pull off a win. Regarding current table positions, Fulham are 10th while Wolves have the 14th position.
Brentford vs Manchester United – Will the Pain Ever End for United Fans?
United’s lack of ability in Week 1 was a bit shocking, to say the least. Sure, many doubters said nothing has changed from last season. And they were right, for now. Brentford look better on paper than last season. If you want to see the reason, check out our betting tips for Brentford v Man United. We think Christian Eriksen could be a tie-breaker for this match. But you never know with United. The chaos that goes on behind the curtains cannot be fixed from one week to another.
Erik ten Hag has a huge task ahead of him and the Red Devils’ loss to Brighton only made things worse. Online sportsbook sites in the UK give only 48% of the chance to United on Saturday. While Brentford are the smaller club, they have proven that giants can be felled easily. We respect the home team here but it seems unlikely for United to lose two weeks in a row. For that reason, we’re picking them to win this game.
Sunday Will be Short But Nevertheless Entertaining
This Sunday will only see two games played. The first one is in Nottingham and the second one is in London. There aren’t many what-ifs regarding the Nottingham-West Ham match but Chelsea-Spurs look extremely promising. The latter is the highlight match of Week 2 of the Premier League and could be one of the best games of the season.
Nottingham Forest vs West Ham – Premier League Week 2 predictions
The first week of the season wasn’t kind to these two clubs. Nottingham failed to register a single shot on target against Newcastle and also had more than a dozen fouls. From a certain perspective, West Ham had a better game. They just had the misfortune of playing Man City. Right now both Nottingham and West Ham sit at the bottom of the table, with one of them destined to stay there for another week. The visiting team spent a lot on players this summer and they’re favoured over the hosts at City Ground.
Nottingham had a good year in the Championship last season and also a few impressive performances in the FA Cup. But the Premier League Week 2 predictions don’t expect them to win on Sunday. West Ham have a slightly over 50% of chance of gaining 3 points by the end of the week. If you’re interested in the match, check out 888sport for all the available odds.
Chelsea vs Spurs is the Most Anticipated Match of the Week
This is the most anticipated match of Week 2. The winners will be the winners of London for some time. Both clubs emerged victorious last week, with Spurs showcasing their attacking power in a 4-1 victory over Southampton.
Chelsea took things a bit slower in their 1-0 win against Everton. In our Chelsea v Spurs betting tips, we mentioned how Tottenham might be at a disadvantage according to the recent history between these two teams. These betting tips also include the updated odds for the match so you might want to check them out.
We’re confident that Chelsea are only the favourites here because the match will be at Stamford Bridge. Pre-season and recent performances show that Spurs are more organized and have a deadlier attack. We’re also yet to see Marc Cucurella make the starting eleven for the Blues.
According to experts, Tottenham have only about a 30% chance to win this week. This is compared to Chelsea’s 42%. But as you might have suspected from the tone of our Premier League Week 2 predictions, we think Spurs can finally end their losing streak against Chelsea.
Monday’s Sole Game
In Week 2 of the Premier League, instead of a Friday match, we’re getting a Monday night event. Liverpool will host Crystal Palace at Anfield. The game has a kick-off time of 20:00 and predictions don’t favour the visitors at all.
Premier League Week 2 Predictions – Liverpool vs Crystal Palace
Considering how Liverpool haven’t lost a single league home game last season, Crystal Palace are in a bit of a pickle here. The last time Palace played Liverpool at Anfield was almost a year ago but the hosts won 3-0. It’s extremely impressive just how good Liverpool are at home.
Palace played well against Arsenal but failed to convert any of their chances and so ended up losing 2-0. Similarly, Liverpool’s draw with Fulham was just as shocking. In our 2023 Premier League betting tips we mentioned how Liverpool are the only one with a chance to stop City’s dominance.
Anything can happen in the Premier League, but according to online sportsbook sites in the UK, Crystal Palace have less than a 10% chance to win on Monday. Only time will tell whether or not Liverpool have improved from last season. But right now, they’re the better team in this matchup. For the exact odds for the upcoming match, take a look at our Liverpool v Crystal Palace betting tips.
