The fourth major tournament of the 2022 LPGA season, the Amundi Evian Championship is held this week, between 21-24 July in France. Minjee Lee is the defending champion and one of the top favorites again. But the 2022 Evian Championship winner odds also mention the world ranking leader Jin Young Ko, And the world No3 Nelly Korda with similar chances of winning.
This will be the 29th edition of the Evian Championship, which started as Evian Masters and only became a major tournament in 2013. The event is held at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Evian-Les-Bains, in South-eastern France. Located on a mountain, next to Lake Geneva and the Alps, the course offers magnificent views.
We can find some of the most famous women golfers in the previous winners from Annika Sorenstam to Inbee Park. While Australian Minjee Lee is the defending champion who won her first major title here. She will be in the 120-player field again along with 45 out of the best 50 players. Including the surprise winners of the previous major tournaments this season, Jennifer Kupcho and Chun In-gee who also won here before.
2022 Evian Championship Winner Odds Slightly Favor the Defending Champion
Minjee Lee won her second major tournament last month at the 2022 US Women’s Open, which was her 8th LPGA Tour victory. The Australian player also won the Cognizant Founders Cup this year. While she finished T2 in the KPMG Women’s PGA and the HSBC Women’s World Championships. The world No2 has been doing really well on these major events and is the top favorite again. Especially after winning her first ever title on this course last year and still being in great form. It’s no wonder that online sportsbooks in France offer the smallest odds, 9.60 for her victory.
She is followed closely though by American Nelly Korda who is currently in third place in the world rankings. The 23-year-old American had to miss several weeks due to a blood clot in her arm, she did return to compete in the 2022 US Women’s Open.
Korda finished T8 there, while her best result this season was a T2 finish in the Meijer LPGA Classic a month ago. Seems like she is back in form and can play also for her 8th LPGA win. And her second major title following her win at the 2021 Women’s PGA Championship. Her odds to get the win here are 10.00.
Other Top Players in the Field
The current world No1, Jin Young Ko won the HSBC World Championship this March which was her 13th LPGA Tour win. She also finished as a runner-up in the Palos Verdes Championship and fourth in the US Women’s Open. The South Korean player has already won this tournament once before, in 2019. Now Ko has the odds of 14.50 for another win.
Even though she was only T30 in the previous major tournament, in the Women’s PGA Championship. That event was won by her compatriot, In-gee Chun who is the 2016 winner of the Evian Championship. The world No11 managed to win her first event since 2018 in this year’s PGA and can do well again in France.
Online gambling sites in France offer the odds of 34.00 for her victory. While we can find similar odds next to another major winner of this season, Jennifer Kupcho. The American golfer won her first ever LPGA Tour title in the 2022 Chevron Championship. She followed it with two further victories last month, making her one of the top-form players on the tour.
The 25-year-old also got a T2 finish from this tournament in 2019. And the odds of 31.00 to win it now. Another first-time winner of this season is Atthaya Thitikul who finished fifth here last year. The 19-year-old Thai player is one of the rising stars of the sport. She has the odds of 16.00 on 22Bet to get her first major title this weekend.
