Biathlon events will conclude with the mass start races at the 2022 Winter Olympics. First, the top 30 men will compete on the 18th of February, followed by the women’s race on Saturday. Norwegian and French stars have been dominating the men’s competition so far. While Marte Olsbu Roiseland is favored to win her fourth gold medal by the 2022 Olympic Biathlon mass start odds.
The latest discipline in the Olympic biathlon program, the mass start competitions will close the biathlon event in Beijing. 30 athletes with the best score from the previous events will compete in both the men’s and women’s races. They will begin the distance (15km for men and 12,5km for women) simultaneously, having four shooting stages during the race. Biathletes from the traditional power nations, like Norway, France, ROC, and Germany can go for the gold again. With Norwegian Johannes Thingnes Bo and Marte Olsbu Roiseland being the top favorites.
2022 Olympic Biathlon mass start odds for the men’s competition
Johannes Thingnes Bo won the sprint gold medal in Beijing and finished third in the individual race. In addition, Bo also became Olympic champion as a member of the Norwegian men’s and mixed relay teams, totaling his gold medals to three. Now he can add one more title to this remarkable performance if the 28-year-old manages to win the mass start on Friday. Online sportsbooks in Norway offer the smallest odds, 3.46 for his victory. But his main rival, French Quentin Fillon Maillet follows him closely with the odds of 3.50.
Maillet got two gold medals from this Olympics after winning the individual and pursuit events and he also finished as a runner-up in the sprint behind Bo. So we should expect a last big fight between the two stars with the same chance of winning. If we check their previous results in this discipline, Bo is a two-time world champion and two-time world cup winner. While Maillet got a silver and bronze medal from the last two world championships. But the French seems to be in top form this season and will be hard to beat. ROC athletes Alexandr Loginov and Edward Latypov are likely to fight for the bronze medal. Their odds to defeat both favorites are 13.50 and 15.00 in the 2022 Olympic Biathlon mass start odds.
Roiseland can win her fourth gold medal in the women’s mass start
Marte Olsbu Roiseland has been giving a stunning performance in Beijing. She won the sprint and the pursuit gold beside the bronze medal in the individual race. She also competed in the Norwegian mixed relay team winning her third gold medal with it. So no wonder that online gambling sites in Norway predict her victory again with the odds of 3.165. Even though that mass start is not her strongest discipline and she hasn’t had any win in it this World Cup season. Unlike Italian Dorothea Wierer who leads the 2021/22 Mass Start World Cup at the moment.
The 2019 world champion won the bronze medal in the sprint in Beijing and has the odds of 9.00 for winning the gold. Swedish Elvira Oeberg finished as a runner-up in the sprint and pursuit events a few days ago. Great result from the 22-year-old athlete who also won one world cup event this season. Making her another favorite for a medal, though defeating her more experienced rivals can be a tough task. Her odds to do so are 7.00 on 22Bet. While two-time Olympic bronze medalist of the event, Tiril Eckhoff will also aim for a similar result. The 31-year-old Norwegian also got the bronze medal in pursuit in Beijing, but she needs a performance now to become Olympic champion.
