“Summer of Soul” Is the Frontrunner for the 2022 Oscars Best Documentary

If you visit22BET Sportsbook you’ll find that the “Summer of Soul” (…or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) is the absolute frontrunner for Best Documentary. With winning odds at 1.62 it’s no surprise at all. This documentary focuses on the events of the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival. Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson’s documentary aired at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival and got critically acclaimed and praised for the footage restoration. The documentary looks at the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival, which lasted six weeks and was hosted in Mount Morris Park (now Marcus Garvey Park) in Harlem.

Despite a large turnout and performances by Stevie Wonder, Mahalia Jackson, Nina Simone, The 5th Dimension, The Staple Singers, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Blinky Williams, Sly and the Family Stone, and the Chambers Brothers, the festival was perceived as obscure in pop culture, which the documentarians investigate. It has already won numerous awards, like the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival or Best Documentary at the Chicago Film Critics Association Awards. All in all, it seems like the biggest documentary in 2021 so why wouldn’t your place your bet on this movie?

Can “Flee” Win This Category Too?

So far we can see “Flee” nominated for various awards for the next Academy Awards. It has high chance to win Best Animated Feature, as well as winning the Best International Feature Film. And now we have to state that it has pretty high odds to be the winner of the 2022 Oscar Best Documentary.

This animated movie might just win not one but three awards this year. And we are only talking about the bigger categories. If you visit online sportsbook sites in the US, you will find that it has its winning odds at 3.74. And why does it have all the hype about it? Well, it’s really one of the finest of the 2021 film season.

Jonas Poher Rasmussen directed and co-wrote this Danish animated documentary with his friend Amin. A riveting documentary and a long narrative from an Afghan refugee combine in this video. It’s an exciting and original story. The story revolves around Amin, Rasmussen’s friend. He is an Afghan refugee from Denmark. As we contemplate on his life, we get more familiar with his story. As a young man, he had to flee Kabul, where he was born. Many people fled Kabul during the 1980s war, and we now hear about a refugee’s story from a fresh perspective. The animation adds to the charm of the piece. Rasmussen employs an engrossing strategy to pull us even further into the story.

As a result, the story becomes extremely emotional and graphic. We get to see him struggle to find his place in the world and finally settle in Denmark. Amin’s sexuality, which is a source of difficulty for him, adds to the story’s complexity. Ultimately, the film describes how horrific the Afghan war was for most people. Because of the amazing animation and wonderful tale, it’s truly extraordinary. It’s no wonder that it currently has the strongest chance of winning the Oscar for Best International Film.

“The Rescue” Also Has Good Odd to Win the Oscars Best Documentary

Next on the list of the most probable winners of the 2022 Oscars Best Documentary, we have “The Rescue”. It’s kind of different from the first two ones as it’s a National Geography movie and focuses on the rescue of a football team. What makes it more interesting is that the team and their coach can’t get out of the underwater cave. Also there is not much chance for them to come out alive.

It’s name is the “Tham Luang cave rescue” and the mission was in 2018. What made it much more complicated was the rising water and the strong currents. Even though it started as something small the rescue became a massive operation and got worldwide interest. Even international rescue teams were involved in this mission, and in the end, the British divers found the team. John Volanthen and Richard Stanton were the ones to find them on a rock.

Rescuers discussed whether to teach the group basic underwater diving skills in order to save them sooner. Or whether to wait until a they find a new entrance. They could also wait for the floodwaters to recede. After days of pumping water out of the cave system and a break in the rain, the rescue crews rushed to get the group out before the next monsoon storm. Which was due to begin around July 11 and bring further downpours. All in all Chai Vasarhelyi’s documentary also has a rather nice chance to win. According to online sportsbooks in the US, the film has odds at 3.74.

“Ascension” to Win Best Documentary

Moving on we have another amazing documentary that could win the award this year. It’s “Ascension” and if you visit 22BET Sportsbook you’ll see that it has its winning odds at 19.00 which is pretty high too. This American documentary directed by Jessica Kingdon follows the Chinese dream. It shows us the social classes, innovation, and how they prioritize productivity.

Jessica Kingdon intended to make a trilogy of short films focused on the cycle of production, consumption, and waste, but finding funding for a series proved problematic. So she opted to turn the trilogy into a feature film instead. Kingdon intended to produce a film on capitalism and how it impacts people in their own countries. They shot the movie in 51 different places in China. Jessica Kingdon’s great-grandfather wrote a poem that inspired the film’s title.
