2021 Finland Rally is held this weekend, 1-3 October
-
The race is famous for its high speed and big jumps
-
Local Kalle Rovanpera can win his third race in the season and his career
Sebastien Ogier is on his way to another rally world championship title after leading the overall standing 44 points ahead of Elfyn Evans. But the 2021 Finland Rally predictions favor another driver, Finnish Kalle Rovanpera to win on home soil in the next race this weekend. Which will be the second event in the country this season with only two more rounds remaining after it.
The first Rally Finland was held back in 1951 and it has been part of the world rally championships from its beginning in 1973. The race is held in central Finland, on the land of the thousand lakes, around the city of Jyvaskyla. It is one of the most prestigious races of the season due to its speed and high jumps. It attracts the biggest crowd in the Nordic countries from all motorsport events. This year the date of the race has been pushed back by two months, taking place in October instead of its normal summer date. So might bring some extra excitement to the fans who will hope for the victory of the young Finnish driver, Kalle Rovanpera.
2021 Finland Rally Predictions Mention Rovanpera and Tanak as Top Favorites
The 20-year-old Kalle Rovanpera is currently in fourth place in the world championship, but only one point behind Thierry Neuville. The young Finnish driver won his second race in Greece three weeks ago and will arrive full of confidence. He was close to winning in the first Finnish race in the season, in the Arctic Rally as well but he finished second eventually. Now Jyvaskyla-born Ravenpera can try again and get his third win on home soil. With online sportsbooks in Finland offering the smallest odds, 2.20 for his victory.
But we can’t forget about the winner of the race in February, Ott Tanak who has also won this event twice before. The Estonian is in fifth place in the overall standings but can move up in the table with a win. Tanak has been struggling in the middle of the season but seems to be back in form after finishing second in the Acropolis Rally. Usually, drivers from Nordic countries are doing well in this race, but his experience makes him a top contender again. Tanak’s odds to win this weekend are 3.75 in the 2021 Finland Rally predictions.
Can Lappi or Ogier Win Again?
Sebastien Ogier leads the championship confidently, and he can even secure his 8th WRC title with a good performance. The French champion is one of the exceptions to our earlier statement. As he also won here once before, back in 2013. Following his top form, this season with four wins already, Ogier has a good chance of winning again. Even though this race might not be his favorite or most successful event. The Toyota driver only finished 20th in the Arctic Rally this year. So surely he will aim for a better result now. Ogier’s odds for a win are 6.50 on bet365.
Online gambling sites in Finland also mention another local driver, Esapekka Lappi in the favorites. Lappi also won this race once before, in 2017 which might be a promising sign ahead of the weekend. But his victory would be a surprise though after driving only in his third WRC race this season. Now Lappi will be in a Toyota. With the car, he got his only WRC victory four years ago. He has the odds of 8.50 for finishing on top again. While the main chaser of Ogier, Elfyn Evans’ odds are 13.00. The British driver was fifth in the previous Finnish event in February and only sixth in the last race in Greece. So he would really need a good result now to keep his chance for winning the title.
