Top Ten Earners In Football Counted Down

Michel Platini, President of UEFA, was paid 1.35 million pounds by Sepp Blatter, the President of FIFA and both have paid the price for this undisclosed fiscal transaction, and whilst that seems like a lot, the fact is when it comes to money in football that’s almost nothing as you’ll find out as we count down our top ten earners in football in terms of club revenues.

10. Juventus – Serie A

Currently two points off the top of the table in the Italian league, Juventus have long been a big brand with a massively loyal following, this means Juventus are pretty much alone in bucking the trend of attendance decline that has beset domestic Italian football since the early nineteen nineties. Even so Juventus hold steady retaining their place in our Top 10 earners in football list with a revenues of 246.4 million pounds in 2015.

9. Liverpool – Premier League

Remaining in the No.9 spot for the second year running Liverpool haven’t performed quite as well as they would have wished this season, just one win in the last four games, but as Jurgen “The Normal One” Klopp settles into the job that may well improve enough for people who like to bet on sports in the UK making a return to backing them to win. Of course they have an long history and establish brand name, and it is this legacy that put their revenues at 298.1 million pounds last year.

8. Chelsea – Premier League

Down one place into 8th this London side have been beset with more drama than a Brazilian soap opera of late and whether you are a fan of Mourinho or not he did lead them to a league title last year, raising the club’s already international profile and keeping them up with the big boys, they might have slipped a place at the expense of a cross-town rival but they still pulled in 319.5 million in 2015 which keeps them on our list of top ten earners in football. 

7. Arsenal – Premier League

The Gunners are one of the oldest clubs in the country and have a fiercely ardent following and this season seem on course to challenge for the top slot, just a match win adrift from the leaders. Last year saw them move up into 7th place at the expense of the now hapless Chelsea and start the march on their league rivals. They’re still well worth taking advantage of UK gambling laws to back as winners and 2015 saw the north London team gain revenues to the tune of 331.3 million pounds.

6. Manchester City – Premier League

The runaway French champions more often than not, the French capital’s best known side have climbed one spot since last year slipping by the waning Bayern Munich and taking fourth place. With numerous big name stars, including the headline attracting Zlatan Ibrahimovic, they’ve managed to garner fans across Europe and the world. Their revenues were listed as 365.8 million pounds in 2015.

The most famous team in England fell one place last year sinking below Barca as the Spanish league continues to focus money into very few places, and whilst current manager Louis van Gaal may well be looking for a new job soon because they’re off the pace in 5th place in the Premiership they’re still one of the most recognizable brands in football, constantly hitting the gambling news headlines, which goes some way to explaining why they gained 395.2 million pounds in revenues in 2015.

Sitting pretty at the top of the Spanish league Barca have hauled themselves up two places over 2014 pushing by Manchester United and grabbing the No.2 spot on our list. With plenty of big name stars and a publicity machine that is the envy of many small governments, the boys from the Camp Nou are known the world over and have fans just about everywhere, many of whom back them to win each week at Bet365. The only question now is will FC Barcelona catch them up, or are they destined to consolidate their position? 

With all that money floating around isn’t it any wonder the Michel Platini looks a tad bemused at the charges against him and his chum Blatter, after all Real Madrid took in as much as he was bribed paid every 27 hours of 2015.
