No King For England Rugby As Alex Dismisses Links

Speculation has been running rife that Alex King, current backs coach for Northampton, might be about to join Eddie Jones’ new look national side set-up, but he himself doesn’t believe the new boss will want another King for England.


“I think Eddie wants clarity on what he wants to bring and I think that’s probably one of the reasons why he doesn’t want another coach.”
Said the former Wasps fly-half in dismissing the suggestion,“He’s going to run the attack along with Paul Gustard, Steven Borthwick and Ian Peel.” Adding the he felt “Four coaches is enough at this stage, there is nothing more to it than that.”

Eddie Doesn’t Need King For England

“It’s been a frustrating couple of weeks because of what’s been written and I’m glad it’s come out that Eddie will be running the attack with other coaches.” He said, but the thoughts of King for England are still strong and he confided “I’m looking forward to seeing how England play and the squad that he picks.” Which is true, because we all are, especially if we like to take advantage of UK gambling laws to bet on the egg-chasers.

When Eddie Jones, former Australia and Japan boss, took over in November, the Rugby world, and particularly those us that enjoy the odd wager at Bet365 on the Rugby, speculation about the make up of his coaching staff began almost immediately with the next Six Nations championship the goal to aim at. Several sources claimed he was considering Alex King for England based on discussions the two were reported to have had. It was a report that was almost laughed off.

“I think Eddie has probably met all the coaches and directors of Rugby in England to understand the English game,” King explained, “Just because you have a conversation with Eddie Jones doesn’t mean there’s more to it.”
