Gavin Newsom Counts On His California Recall Election Odds

You probably couldn’t make it up. Facing a recall election, on the 14th of September, you’d think Gavin Newsom would be focused. Keeping his eye on the ball. Not letting the California recall election odds go to his head. Instead this week a court had to decide if he is a democrat or not. Or, at least, if he can state he’s one on the ballot. Turns out, he can’t. Classic. So whilst online betting sites in the US like Bovada still give Newsom short prices, the Democrats just lost the election.  

We all make mistakes. Humanity is like that. However whilst some of us confine our errors to the odd embarrassing social faux pas, some go the whole hog. Take Gavin Newsom. No, seriously. Take him. Most politician have to put in effort to look quite this inept, Gavin does it naturally. Despite the California recall election odds favoring him keeping his job, he won’t get to call himself a Democrat on the ballot. Why not? Because he made an “inadvertent but good faith mistake.”

We’ll leave aside that all mistakes are inadvertent or they’re not actually mistakes. If you start analyzing what politicians say, the California recall election odds will be the least of your issues. Turns out when filling out the paperwork Newsom’s office made an oversight and didn’t state he was a Democrat. Doh. Now anyone in the US gambling laws concerning elections aren’t a bit of a hot potato right now hasn’t paid attention. So when he asked to correct the error, he couldn’t.     

California Recall Election Odds Still Favor Gavin Newsom

California Democrats couldn’t look the other way whilst he technically broke the rules. Not in the current climate. So they said no, and Gavin Newsom did what Americans always do when they don’t get their way. He sued them. Unfortunately, for Gavin, this week the judge sided with the state. So, he can’t place Democrat next to his name on the ballot. Given the California recall election odds at Bovada etc that might not matter. He’s still ahead. It just doesn’t look very good.

So, whilst the California recall election odds on Gavin Newsom at online sportsbook sites in the US like Bovada are still great, the odds on the Democrats aren’t. Indeed if you have bet on the Democrats to win in September some could argue they didn’t. Even if they do. You can certainly bet on the Republicans to make hay with this. By the end of the week they’ll claim he’s trying to hide his left-wing socialist allegiance to George Soros. Of course, that’s just sour grapes really. 

Bet On The California Recall Election At Bovada

The odds on the Republicans actually recalling Newsom are lengthy. Just look at the record of such attempts. Fifty-four tries and only one success, and that was because the alternative was a celebrity. Arnold Schwarzenegger. This time the Republicans are running Caitlyn Jenner who, even on a good day, barely gets 8/1 in the California recall election odds at sites like Bovada. Caitlyn has said she’ll run in 2022 if Newsom wins. The GOP may have other ideas on that one.

They are replete with choices. Much as the California recall election odds tend to focus on those with an actual chance, there are 60 candidates.
