Cinemas are now open again and big blockbusters have returned to the big screen. Even though they might not earn such amounts as before. But films like F9, Black Widow or Dune can still bring lots of money for their makers, just like the new Tom Cruise movies. Let’s see what else can do well this year so you can bet on the highest grossing films in the US.
Last year was a pretty bad year for cinemas and film makers, luckily the streaming services saved the film industry. In 2021 slowly everything is opening up including movie theaters all around the world. In the US the only American film that reached $200 million last year was Bad Boys for Life. Sonic the Hedgehog and the sequel of Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey followed it with $148 and $84 million. While the so-awaited Cristopher Nolan film, Tenet’s gross was only $58 million. The tendency of smaller grosses is likely to continue this year, still studios are hoping for higher numbers in 2021. Big blockbusters like the Fast and Furious series or the latest Marvel films can do well along with the remake of sci-fi classic Dune.
Bet on the highest grossing films in the US including current leader F9
The 9th film of the Fast and Furious series, F9: The Fast Saga has already grossed $88 million since its debut on the 25th of June. It is predicted to earn much more in the coming weeks. No wonder that Last year films grossed only a small percentage of previous years favor the new Vin Diesel action to be the highest grossing film of the year with the odds of 2.75. American viewers love the series of fast cars, amazing action scenes and great casting. Justin Lin’s film has grossed $423 million worldwide, making it the fourth-highest grossing film of 2021 at the moment.
The film which currently leads the highest grossing list of 2021 is A Quiet Place Part II, the sequel of the scary alien movie. Emily Blunt stars again in the film while her husband, John Krasinki is only the director of the second part. The film grossed $139 million since its debut in May. But other films are likely to overtake it soon. If you’d like to bet on the highest grossing films in the US, you might make a better choice with the latest Marvel film, Black Widow. The new production of the Marvel Universe will feature Scarlett Johansson who seems pretty convincing in the trailer. It has the odds of 5.00 to be the highest grossing film in the US this year.
Latest Tom Cruise movies, new James Bond movie and Dune can also attract viewers
Tom Cruise might be almost 60 years old, but he still does most of the action scenes in his films. As we can soon witness it in the latest Mission:Impossible movie. Sadly the release of Mission:Impossible 7 has been postponed to next year. But his other film, Top Gun: Maverick will be released this November. Where Cruise returns as Captain Maverick Mitchell, now a test pilot and flight instructor. Probably fans of the first movie will watch this film, but we can’t see it to be the highest grossing film. Its odds are not bad with 7.00 though.
Sci-fi fans surely can’t wait to see Denis Villeneuve’s remake of the famous trilogy, Dune. Which is scheduled for release in October. With no new Star Wars movie this year, the film can do well within younger generations. But hard core fans can also watch the film which has lots of stars in it. From Timothee Chalamet who plays the main character to Josh Brolin, Oscar Isaac and Rebecca Ferguson. Online gambling sites in Canada offer the odds of 10.00 for Dune to earn the most in 2021. While the new James Bond movie, No Time to Die has similar chances to do that. Daniel Craig’s last appearance as the 007 has been postponed several times. But it’s finally will be available in the cinemas this October.
