Last weekend’s top two drivers, Truex and Larson can go for the victory again
The 2021 NASCAR season continues this weekend with the Drydene 400 race at Dover International Speedway in Delaware. Kevin Harvick won the race here last season and is mentioned in the favorites. But the 2021 NASCAR Drydene 400 odds favor Martin Truex Jr. to win again after his victory last weekend.
The Drydene 400 race was part of the NASCAR playoffs for several years but last year it was moved to an earlier date in the regular season. In the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season it’s held this weekend, on the 16th of May, with its original 400-mile length. Jimmie Johnson has the most wins at the track with five victories. While from the current field Kevin Harvick managed to win here twice. He is predicted to perform well again just like the winner of last weekend’s race in Darlington, Martin Truex Jr. But we can also find a few more drivers with a great chance of winning at Dover. In a season which has already got 9 different race winners including several first-time winners.
Truex Jr. leads the 2021 NASCAR Drydene 400 odds
Martin Truex Jr. is the only driver with more than one win this season after getting his third victory in Darlington last weekend. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver is still only in second place in the overall standings behind Denny Hamlin. But with another victory in Dover, he might take the lead from him. Truex finished second in the race here last season but online sportsbooks in the US favor him to win now with the odds of +350. It would be his second victory at the track after 2016 and another big step to finish on top of the table at the regular season.
Last weekend’s runner-up, Kyle Larson will surely go for the victory this weekend as well. Thanks to his great result in Darlington, the Hendrick Motorsports driver moved to the 6th place in the standings. Not bad from Larson, who only took part in four races last season due to his suspension. But this season he already got a win from Las Vegas and a second-place finish from Atlanta. He won in Dover two years ago and also finished third in the spring race in 2019. Now his odds for another victory are +450 in the 2021 NASCAR Drydene 400 odds.
Hamlin, Harvick and Elliott in other favorites
Truex’s teammate, Denny Hamlin still leads the overall standings even though he hasn’t got any race win in the season. It might change in Dover now, where he has one win and 13 top-10 finishes so far. The 2010 series runner-up is having one of the best seasons of his career with a very balanced performance. What he really misses is a race win though beside his nine top-5 finishes. Hamlin has the odds of +600 to get it this Sunday.
Online gambling sites in the US also mention last year’s winner, Kevin Harvick in the favorites with the odds of +750. He is currently in 7th place in the table, thanks to his nine top 10-finishes. But the 2014 series champion is also missing a win yet which he can get in Dover. In the track where he usually performs well. The defending series champion, Chase Elliott has also won here before, in 2018. But he is also without a victory this season and doesn’t seem to find his best form yet. Last year he only finished 39th, but should get a much better result now. Elliott’s odds to win is +800 on Bovada.
