It is never easy to find a host for a television show. But it is even harder to do so, when the show has been airing since 1964, and it is America’s favorite quiz show. Not to mention, that its last host was everyone’s favorite: Alex Trebek. That is to say, they are still figuring out the next host – and we have predictions too – of Jeopardy!
One of America’s favorite television personalities, Alex Trebek sadly passed away in November 2020. The Canadian-American hosted the game show Jeopardy! for 36 seasons: from its revival in 1984 until he died in 2020. As such, many believe that it is basically impossible to replace him with anyone. But you know as they say: the show must go on. So, the producers of Jeopardy! are on to decide who should be the next host – and we can only go into predictions about it. Ever since Trebek’s passing, there were temporary replacement hosts, but since August they are looking for the next full-time face for the show. Let us see, who can be in the running so far!
This is Jeopardy!
In case, you have not heard much of it before, Jeopardy! is an American game show. It is a quiz competition, in which contestants are tested on general knowledge. The creator is Merv Griffin, and it debuted on NBC in 1964. It started as a daytime show, but then it went on to nighttime. It also had some breaks in the airing, but until today, it is still one of America’s favorite. This is why no one should be surprised that online gambling sites in the US are all about the next host predictions for Jeopardy!. The show is undoubtedly a big success: it has a wide viewership, it aired over 8.000 episodes, and it received many awards. As such: 39 Daytime Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award, and is ranked no. 45 on TV Guide’s list of the 60 greatest shows in the television history of the US.
Steps ahead
The show has seen many great hosts: Art Fleming, Don Pardo, John Harlan, and of course, the great Alex Trebek. The latest hosted the show for 36 seasons and everybody loved him, that is to say, he left some big shoes to fill. This is why the show’s owner, Sony Pictures Entertainment has a tough decision to make. So far, since the passing of Trebek, Jeopardy! has had a rotation of temporary replacement hosts. And they plan to keep this up until the end of season 37 (started in September 2020). However, until the next season – starting next September – they going to have to find out who the next host will be of Jeopardy! But it is not just them: online sportsbook sites in the US also have their predictions! Check out for example Betway: they can always give you some great hints!
Next host of Jeopardy! predictions
Since September we have seen several new faces on the show’s podium. First Ken Jennings, then Mike Richards, Aaron Rodgers, and Mayim Bialik, but we could go on with the list. Some of them might have been invited to host without any hidden intentions. However, for some of them, their appearance might have been a trial round. We believe that they are all in the running – according to their performances as hosts. But there are some next host contestants in the predictions, who have not been on Jeopardy! – though fans are dying to see them on the podium.
We are talking about Levar Burton. He was not in line for Jeopardy! – not even as a guest host. But then, over 250.000 fans signed a petition for him to be at least a guest host. So, he is onto it this July! We are looking forward to it because we can already see that he is beloved and has support from the audience. We only have to see how he performs. But if he does good, according to predictions he is one of the frontrunners to be the next host of Jeopardy!
There are also some notable starts from American television who worth giving a shot – or bet – to. Names like Katie Couric, Savannah Guthrie, Bill Whitaker, Sanjay Gupta, Dr. Mehmet Oz, and Anderson Cooper always turn up in conversations like that – so we would not cross them out either.
