They say a week is a long time in politics. In the fast-paced Indian Premier League it’s even longer. It must be. Online sportsbook sites in India like Bet365 already seem to have sorted the wheat from the chaff. We’re only four rounds in but already the top teams are soaring well above the rest in the 2021 IPL odds. This means some teams are clearly under-performing whilst others are completely confounding their critics. But which of them should you back to win it in the end?
The 2021 IPL odds shift with mercurial ease. The sheer speed of the tournament keeps things in a constant state of flux. Typically, teams rise with each victory and slump with any defeat. However, this year there’s less a maelstrom of ever ebbing and flowing tidal prices than a parting of the seas. We’re already seeing quite the divide. Naturally, there’s a long way to go. Anything could happen. Still, the bookies are very much already seeing this as a tournament of two halves.
The teams that populate the bottom half are, despite their best efforts, not doing as well as necessary. The Sunrisers Hyderabad have collapsed to three straight losses. That puts them dead last. Sure, with the likes of Johnny Bairstow, David Warner and Manish Pandey in the side they could come back. I just wouldn’t take advantage of Indian gambling laws to bet on them doing so. Their 2021 IPL odds now languish at 16/1, the same price you can get on the Punjab Kings.
Rajasthan Royals Fall Foul Of A Finger
The rebrand of the Kings XI Punjab to the Punjab Kings has not alas helped their cricket. Sure you can bet on T20 and the IPL to contain all sorts of theatric razzamatazz, but it doesn’t count. What counts is results, and thus far the Punjab Kings have only won once. Of course that’s the same results record both the Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders find themselves facing too. Where they vary however is in the 2021 IPL odds the bookies are giving them right now.
The KKR are fetching 14/1 at the moment. Not that they’re a great bet on the 2021 IPL. Sure, they’ve a hope, but only a slim one. Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals have dropped off to 20/1. This is mostly due to their sudden lack of match winners following Ben Stokes withdrawing due to a broken finger. T20 odds at online betting sites in India are not very forgiving of suddenly losing your depth of squad. Now contrast these 2021 IPL odds with those of the leading teams.
Bet365 Has All The 2021 IPL Odds
Chennai have defied their critics and seized their opportunities with both hands. They’ve moved in from 10/1 to 13/2 and look capable of continuing the trend. Even more surprising, however, is the performance of the Royal Challengers Bangalore. At the time of writing they’re sat pretty at the top of the table with a game in hand over their nearest rivals. Unbeaten in three games and ahead of Delhi on Net Run Rate, their 2021 IPL odds closed up from 5/1 to 10/3 in a big hurry.
Not that they quite match the 2021 IPL odds on the favorites, of course. But it’s close. The bookies expect the favorites to overhaul them in the long run. Sides which can ring the changes always do better as the tournament progresses. That’s why the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, despite their inconsistent performances, still both get 11/4. Either one is a great bet on sports in India, but you still have to be tempted to bet on Chennai before their price gets too short.
