The Directors Guild of America just announced the feature-film and first-time director nominees. There are five contenders in each category. We look at the hopefuls of winning the feature-film award. It is a tough contest, but Zhao holds an edge at the 2021 DGA awards betting odds.

This year there are five strong contenders of which two women are nominated and have a great chance of winning. They are Chloe Zhao and Emerald Fennell who have shown outstanding directorial talent in theatrical feature films. Zhao won the Golden Globes and Critics Choice

Chloe Zhao the director of ‘Nomadland’ won the best director at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards. Isaac Chung won the Golden Globe for foreign-language film

The director of ‘Minari’ Lee Isaac Chung picked up the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language film. Thus, the film has been well acknowledged that it has strong potential to win the DGA award with 11 value, as per online sportsbooks in the United States. The film is about a Korean immigrant family planting new roots in rural Kansas in the 1980s. The story is very real and it is inspired by the director’s personal experience.
