Augusta beckons but for first time in a long time it will lack one of the greatest ever golfers; Tiger Woods. Players will doubtless express their concern and well wishes, as would we all, but it means one less attractive bet on the Masters. Rory hasn’t missed a cut since 2019 Open Championship where home turf didn’t play in his favor. That means he had 25 cuts in a row. No mean feat. Of course, it’s nowhere near the record for such things. Tiger Woods played a full weekend’s golf 142 times in a row between 1998 and 2005. Xander Schauffele has the longest active streak now at 22. His long game always threatens although Brooks Koepka is getting 12/1 which is also no bad wager.

Jordan Spieth, meanwhile, shares the same 16/1 the current streak holder gets. For this record this is perhaps a third of what the bookies would have offered on Tiger Woods were he fit to play. So the tournament has lost a long shot, but with Bryson around perhaps a big hitter will win it anyway. Certainly, those taking advantage of US gambling laws to bet on the Masters this year could do worse than Dechambeau. Although there may be some romance to a bet on McIlroy now.
