Top 32 players will join in the fourth round on Friday evening
The 2021 UK Open takes place this weekend in Milton Keynes, between the 5th and 7th of March. All top players will be in the field of 154 players from Michael van Gerwen to Gerwyn Price. The Dutch world No2 is the defending champion and the biggest favorite in the 2021 PDC UK Open winner odds. Let’s see his main rivals now.
The ranking darts tournament of the UK Open is also called the ‘FA Cup of Darts’ after its similar format to the prestigious football cup. 64 players will start the first round then the winners will be joined with 32 players in the second and third round. With the best 32 players joining the tournament only in the fourth round. Raymond van Barneveld will make his TV return on Friday afternoon. While last year’s winner, Michael van Gerwen will start the Open in the evening session. Other former winners of the event like James Wade, Gary Anderson and Peter Wright will also try to win the £100,000 prize. Four-time women’s world champion Lisa Ashton also competes in the event and will start in the second round.
2021 PDC UK Open winner odds mention MVG and Price as top favorites
Michael van Gerwen has reached the semi-final of the Players Championship 4 but was beaten there by Damon Heta. The current world No2 hasn’t won any event since last November when he got the victory at the final of the Players Championship. But he has shown a better performance last week and can easily win his first title of the season now. Online sportsbooks in the UK favor his victory with the odds of 5.00.
The current world champion, Gerwyn Price is also in the favorites with the odds of 6.00. The Welsh world No1 was knocked out early in the first two Players Championship events last week. And he missed out the other two due to an ear infection. Hopefully he will fully recover for the start of the tournament where he finished twice as a runner-up. Another familiar name in the top favorites is Peter Wright, who has the odds of 10.00 in the 2021 PDC UK Open winner odds. The 2020 world champion is not in his best form after also being knocked out early last week. But he has won this open before, in 2017 and can do it again.
Players in top form can surprise everyone
Jonny Clayton has been playing brilliantly in 2021. As the Welsh player won the 2021 UK Masters, his first PDC major tournament. In addition he also reached the final of three Players Championship events last week. He could win one of them and became a serious contender for the 2021 UK Open. Where Clayton reached his best result last year after getting to the semi-finals. Now his odds to get even further is 13.00.
Another player in great form is Joe Cullen. He also played in two Players Championship finals and won one of them. But the 31-year-old hasn’t got any major title yet. After his most recent performance he can make up for it soon, maybe this weekend in Milton Keynes. Online gambling sites in the UK offer the odds of 19.00 for his victory. While the favorites of many fans, Raymond van Barneveld will make his return after his retirement in 2019. The five-time world champion got back to playing last autumn and earned his tour card after finishing third in the Q-School. He got his first victory last week which was his first title since 2014. Winning the UK Open would be a small miracle though and has the odds of 61.00 on bet365.
