In the prestigious race several top cyclists take part every year from the biggest UCI World Teams. While the current world champion Julian Alaphilippe is the top favorite in the 2021 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad winner odds on his debut appearance.
The 2021 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad has a 200km route from Gent to Ninove. With the passing of 13 hills and nine cobbles sections in between. It will also feature the legendary climb of Muur van Geraardsbergen, offering advantage to great climbers who usually win the race. As we can see in the list of the previous winners which include Luca Paolini, Ian Stannard and Zdenek Stybar along with top Belgian riders. Last year’s winner was also a Belgian cyclist, Jasper Stuyven who beat his compatriot, Yves Lampaert in a sprint finish. Both of them can fight for the victory again this season. Just like the world champion and other previous winners of the race.
2021 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad winner odds predict the world champion’s victory
Julian Alaphilippe won the 2020 UCI Road Racing World Championshiphips in Imola, Italy last September. Also the classic race of the 2020 Brabantse Pijl. Now online sportsbooks in Belgium offer the smallest odds, 4.00 for his victory in their 2021 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad winner odds. Even though it will be his first time at the Opening Classics. But the French Quick-Step rider has already won other prestigious events. Like the 2019 Milan-San Remo race and the 2019 Strade Bianche. He has been in great form until his accident in the Tour of Flanders last October. But hopefully he has done a full recovery since.
Alaphilippe will face an army of top Belgian riders though in the race from last year’s winner to the Olympic champion. But his biggest rival can be Lotto Soudal rider Tim Wellens. Who has the odds of 10.00 to win the race. Especially after his great start of the season as he has won the 2021 Etoile de Besseges. Which is a UCI Europe Tour event held in the French department of Gard. Wellens got two stage wins in last year’s Vuelta and finished third in the 2019 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.
Other top favorites include former race winners
Online gambling sites in Belgium also mention the two-time winner of the race, Greg Van Avermaet in the favorites. The AG2R rider is the specialist of the one-day classics. He has already won the Paris-Roubaix, the Gent-Wevelgem and the E3 Saxo Bank Classic beside this race. Avermaet is also the defending Olympic champion and the winner of the points classification in the 2008 Vuelta. The 35-year-old cyclist is one of the most experienced riders in the field with the odds of 14.50 to get his third victory.
The winner of the previous 2021 Omloop, Jasper Stuyven will try to defend his title with the odds of 15.00 to do so. The former junior UCI road race world champion is a good sprinter and was close to winning on several occassions. But he has only managed to win two races so far in the World Tour. While his teammate at Trek-Segafredo, the former world champion Mads Pedersen has also got a victory from another Belgian classic, the 2020 Gent-Wevelgem race. We have to mention another Danish rider, Soren Kragh Andersen who finished here third last year. The Team DSM rider got a strong last season with two stage wins in last year’s Tour de France. He has the odds of 26.00 to win the classic this time.
