The 2020-21 snooker season will continue this week with the German Masters held in Milton Keynes, UK. Judd Trump is the defending champion and the biggest favorite in the 2021 German Masters winner odds. But we can also find other previous winners and top players in the last 32 of the tournament starting on the 27th of January.
This will be the 15th edition of the German Masters which is also part of the BetVictor European Series. As most tournaments it will also be held in the usual location, at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes. Sadly fans still can’t attend the event but they can follow it online and on several TV channels. The winner can take home £80,000 which can be a great motivation for all participating players. In the previous winners we can find the best players from Ronnie O’Sullivan to Mark Selby. Judd Trump won the event last year for the first time in his career after defeating Neil Robertson 9-6 in the final. Now he has a good chance to defend his title in the absence of most of his main rivals.
Trump leads the 2021 German Masters winner odds
Online sportsbooks in the UK favor world No1 Judd Trump to win the event with the odds of 2.62. Trump had to miss the Masters in the beginning of the month but now he is ready to get back to play. The winner of the English, the Northern Ireland Open and the World Grand Prix can get his fourth title of the season. Just like he did last season when he defeated Robertson in the final. Trump will start against world No45 Mark Davis on Thursday where he is hugely favored to win.
John Higgings is also mentioned in the top favorites in the 2021 German Masters winner odds. The Scottish player reached the final of the 2021 Masters, but lost it against Chinese Yan Bingtao 10-8 at the end. Still it was a great run from the four-time world champion. Especially as he knocked out Mark Allen, Ronnie O’Sullivan and David Gilbert on his way. Now Higgins can continue his great form in the event which he has won already twice, in 1995 and 1997. His odds to do so is 5.00 on bet365.
Other previous winners with a chance to get the trophy
Chinese Ding Junghui has also won the German Masters once, in 2014 defeating Trump in the final. After missing out most of last season, he started to play again last autumn. He got to the quarter-finals of three ranking tournaments. But his last victory is still from the 2019 UK Championship more than a year ago. Now Junghui has the odds of 7.50 to get his 15th major ranking title.
Even though Shaun Murphy hasn’t won the German Masters yet, he is mentioned by online gambling sites in the UK with the odds of 8.50. The world No7 reached the final of the event in 2015 but lost there against Mark Selby. Now in the absence of several top players, like O’Sullivan, Selby and Robertson, Murphy has a good chance to reach the final again. He will start against compatriot Jamie O’Neill and can meet Trump in the semi-final if he can get there.
