You can bet on the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series to get the best start possible at Daytona. The circuit oozes history of US motorsports. They’ve run this race each year since 1959 and it’s still as big a draw as ever. Fans love the unique atmosphere and hugely exciting racing. This year all eyes are on Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano but it’s anyone’s race really. Never bet on NASCAR to be predictable. So, let’s check out the other odds on the Daytona 500 at online sportsbook sites in the US like Bovada.

Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano both garner 8/1 odds on the Daytona 500 from the bookies like Bovada. They are thus joint favorites to win. However whilst they may get the best prices that doesn’t mean they’ll be the only two fighting for the win. Numerous drivers in the pack could have a shot at this one. We’ve seen plenty of surprise victories on this hallowed ground of US motorsports over the years. Indeed a bet on the Daytona 500 favorites seems a bit of a waste.

Going flat out drivers complete a lap of the tri-oval circuit in less than a minute. They traverse some 50,000 tons of asphalt repeatedly in cars which, honestly, dislike braking. On many other circuits that isn’t an issue. At a superspeedway it is. Drivers lose races for small mistakes. That’s why the odds on the Daytona 500 are more interesting than they appear. Online betting sites in the US like Bovada might be calling it between Denny and Joey, but there are other options.

2020 Newman Crash May Haunt Front Runners

Not least of which is Chase Elliott who, alongside Brad Keselowski, shadows the favorites with 9/1 odds on the Daytona 500. Even Ryan Blaney at 10/1 is a good wager. On the day, any of these drivers could easily win. Just a pity then this isn’t an easy race. Daytona is one of only two circuits that need restrictor plates to slow the cars down. There is far less room for error here than anywhere else. That’s why the course has seen not only some great wins but some awful crashes.

We will all remember Ryan Newman slamming into the wall and flipping over on the last lap last year. He got a small touch from behind and that was all she wrote. It was an horrific accident but hardly the first. There was, you will recall, a multi-car pile-up on lap 185 as well. It is alas why it draws such a big audience and why so many take advantage of US gambling laws to bet on it. Plus, of course, it neatly explains why the odds on the Daytona 500 don’t start at far shorter prices.

Anything could happen when the hammer goes down at Daytona. You can bet on Denny Hamlin or grab odds on Joey Logano easily, but winning will be more tricky. They were both there when Newman went spinning. It must play on their minds. Sure, the safety features introduced after Dale Earnhardt died saved Newman, but will they always? Last lap nerves could see a bet on Joe Logado go out the window, the odds on Denny Hamlin scattered to the four winds in a heartbeat.

Denny, of course, does have the psychological advantage. He won last year as Newman span away into the wall. Many fans will think he can do it again. They’ll think that 8/1 is a great bet on sports in the US and take it up. However, a speculative bet on Kyle Busch at 12/1 is tempting, as is a bet on Martin Truex Jr at 16/1. After all the odds on the Daytona 500 only roll around once a year and after last year, the front of the pack could well disintegrate on that last lap.
