EU And UK Seek Last Moment Deal
A bet on Brexit seemed so easy. There was no way Britain would leave the EU without getting a trade deal. That would be ridiculously stupid. And yet here we are. With just days to go the two sides are still wrangling over fishing. Both sides are emanating pessimism like it was going out of fashion. Which might explain why online sportsbook sites in the UK like Bet365 are offering just 1/2 on them reaching a deal. They need to. Otherwise, who’d back it? It looks a lost cause now.
“Where there’s life, there is hope.” Said Boris Johnson, “[We] certainly won’t be walking away from the talks.” Which is good. But then he followed it up with; “The most likely thing now is of course that we have to get ready for WTO terms.” Which isn’t. It basically resigns the British to a Brexit without a trade deal. Not even the hardened Brexiteers thought that was a good idea. They bet on Brexit with a deal, not without one. Without a deal Britain could face a very harsh future.
“Despite the exhaustion after almost a year of negotiations, despite the fact that deadlines have been missed over and over, we think it is responsible at this point to go the extra mile.” Said Ursula von der Leyen, European Commission President. Shame the EU works in kilometers, isn’t it? With so much still blocking progress, any bet on Brexit now ought to be a negative one. The odds on a no-deal Brexit loiter at around 6/4, at online betting sites in the UK like Bet365.
Boris Johnson Talks Down Hopes Of A Deal
It shouldn’t have been like this. Boris Johnson shouldn’t have threatened to send in the gunboats, the EU shouldn’t have expected anything less. However, there are bigger issues than just the fishing to haggle over. Less glamourous issues. The sort about rules and regulations post-Brexit. The UK government has bet on Brexit bringing about an expansion of global trade, but the EU is unhappy. They want Britain to conform to their standards if they want access to their markets.
Bet On A Brexit Deal
Yes – 1/2
No – 6/4
This is because otherwise one side or the other could cut regulations and thus costs giving their businesses an unfair advantage. It’s quite understandable. Not that Boris would dare say so. The jingoism gets in the way. With the tabloids egging him on Boris is playing hardball. If he doesn’t get a deal, of course, things will be different. No one in the UK gambling laws of economics can be bent like that is going to end up rich. You can’t bet on Brexit without a deal going well. It won’t.
Bet On Brexit Going Badly At Bet365
“[A no deal scenario] would be very bad news for all of us.” Warned Micheal Martin the current Taoiseach, adding it would be “an appalling failure of statecraft.” Silly man. Hoping for statecraft from Boris Johnson is like hoping there’s Caviar in your cheeseburger at Maccy D’s tomorrow. Under any other leader you could possibly have bet on Brexit being uncomfortable but not punishing. Under the Johnson government, the odds on Brexit being horrific are quite scary.
“We’re carrying on talking because no deal is a big deal.”

People are already stockpiling. Hoarding medicines. Preparing for shortages. Public confidence in Boris and his abilities is at an all time low. Gone is the high of his election victory, now people just worry this has all gone horribly wrong. They aren’t incorrect. The UK needs a deal. Everyone bet on Brexit being a challenge, not a suicide mission. It’s like a bet on sports in the UK at Bet365 that declares Lewis Hamilton will become World Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the World. Just a farce.
