Long ago in the year 1892, Canada’s contemporary government made a bold decision that they would eventually come to regret and, in turn, reform. According to Canadian gambling law, all forms of this pastime were, at that time, completely outlawed.

Needless to say, this ruling was extremely unpopular and by 1900, casual raffles and bingo were permitted for use toward charity. The laws continued to soften and conform to the wishes of the people, and they continue to do so to this day.

When it comes to land based gambling, the current laws permit pretty much everything. Online gambling, however, does not enjoy the same popularity and liberality in law though it is the newest and even more popular generation of fun.

This is all about to change. In seeing a boost in the popularity of internet gambling in Canada and abroad, the province of Quebec’s government has decided to legalize it. The local government saw that, despite the current laws which forbid it, online gamblers have the will to find a way and access online gambling sites based on foreign soil.

Realizing that this market is booming and will not be disappearing anytime soon, the Quebec government heeded the wisdom of the old adage, “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em!” Loto-Quebec will be joining up with existing operations from other regions to offer online lotto opportunities and online poker sites in Canada, for starters.

The new online poker sites will offer competitive service with great deals in order to lure Canadian’s back from foreign sites to the new national sites. These new sights will be well regulated, quick and trustworthy. They will need to be in order to do well on the home front.
Quebec has realized that they must reform Canadian gambling law to join up to the massive gambling market and will offer online poker sites in Canada.
