Both Marriage Story and Scarlet alone got multiple nominations this awards season. The actress is nominated for BAFTA Awards, Critics Choice Awards, Golden Globes, SAG Awards and several other awards for her role.

Additionally, Johansson is a double-nominee at SAG, earning nods for Best Actress (Marriage Story) and Best Supporting Actress (Jojo Rabbit). This is also an academy “green light” for the actress.

Johansson’s main competitor in the Best Actor category is bookmaker’s favorite Rene Zellweger in Judy. With winning odds of 1.25, Zellweger is a one-time Oscar winner with two more nominations to her name. 

 In the movie, she stars as Judy Garland. She plays the Hollywood icon at the end of her career, full of drug and alcohol abuse. Zellweger’s performance in the film is really great and she’s got a lot of praise for it. Moreover, she won the Golden Globes in the Best Actress in a motion picture drama category.

Another thing that may come in Johansson’s way to get an Oscar is her co-star in Marriage story Adam Driver. He is dominating the story in the latter half of the film. Also, Driver has high chances to win like the Best Actor category. 

The other thing that can stop her from getting a golden statuette is Johansson’s history of controversial comments about Woody Allen. She stated that she “believes him, and would work with him anytime”.
