…And Another Hacker Seeking Bitcoin Ransom

Four online gambling sites were overthrown for a short while by a hacker last week.

Poker winners who enjoy playing on online poker sites in the US have had a rough couple of days last week. A hacker overpowered four sites with a “distributed denial of service attack,” said David Rebuck, the director of the New Jersey Gaming Enforcement Division.

The attack involved loading the four sites with colossal amount of information and requests that ultimately incapacitated it. The hacker demanded that he/she be paid handsomely in Bitcoin in exchange for letting the sites off the hook.

With an attack like this, a big part of the gambling business in Atlantic City is affected

Gambling news stated that with attacks like this, not only the affected websites and casinos get a bad reputation, but also those businesses, which use the same Internet provider. Thankfully, the sites paid no ransom whatsoever; law enforcement and the casino staff were fast and effective in responding.
