Game of Thrones is a tv-show like no other. The audience has been waiting for two years now to see what will be the faith of its characters. There will be battles to unfold and new stories to engage with. Expectations for the grand finale are high and chances are that we will be seeing some of our most beloved characters to die, as it is the case of Jamie Lannister, but also the long-awaited death of his sister, Cersei.
1. Jamie Lannister, the sister’s servant who united with the enemy
Jamie Lannister is probably the most ambiguous character of Game of Thrones. His love for his sister, Cersei, has made him perform despicable actions, but he has proven that under that persona, is someone who is willing to help others.
However, and despite his charisma, he has created a wide range of enemies because of Cersei. And she is precisely one of the reasons why his odds of being killed in this upcoming season are 1.1, as he has been part of some crimes plotted by her. But the most obvious reason, for now, is that, at the end of season 7, Jamie, fearing the White Walkers’ threat, disobeys his sister’s orders and goes north to fight alongside Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen.
2. Theon Greyjoy, the unforeseen hero
At the beginning of Game of Thrones, Theon Greyjoy was a malicious character which made him detestable for audiences. However, his “fortune” changed at the hands of Ramsay Bolton who tortured him throughout seasons 3, 4 and 5. This experience turns him into a submissive character, which also becomes kind to others rather than taking advantage of them as before.
In season 7 we are shown once again the cowardice of his character, when he abandons his sister, Yara, leaving her with their uncle. However, this is purely because of his inability to protect her. At the end of the season, as he gathers some Ironborn survivors to help him rescue Yara, Theon (1.5) risks his own life.
3. Cersei Lannister, the queen with unethical methods
The Queen of Westeros, Cersei Lannister, has long been “playing with fire”, building a long list of enemies. Her actions reflect some resent over her three children’s deaths, but are mainly based on her desire for power, which she tries to achieve with unethical methods.
By the time of the end of the previous season, her alliances are very dubious – Euron Greyjoy – and her dismissal from not joining forces in the North, lying to Daenerys Targaryen, might have serious consequences in her future. But this is not all, as one of the fiercest characters of Game of Thrones, Arya Stark, is willing to kill her since the death of Ned Stark. With such a dark future ahead, Cersei’s odds of dying are 1.03.
4. Varys, the mysterious lord
Lord Varys, who had a tough upbringing, is one of the most mysterious characters of Game of Thrones, whose personality hasn’t yet been fully revealed. He is someone with a highly politicized role who seems to be in support of the people, instead of serving the interests of any specific monarch. But it is still unknown whether he is interested in the Iron Throne or not.
By season 7, and because of her alliance with Jon Snow, he is supporting the Mother of the Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen. Nonetheless, he shows himself reluctant because of her family background and the way she commands her dragons. Fearing another mad ruler, Varys (1.08) might betray her, dictating his own sentence.
5. Daenerys Targaryen, the heiress of the Iron Throne
Daenerys Targaryen is, next to Jon Snow, the most important character in the series. She is considered by many the legitimate heiress of the Iron Throne and her power over the dragons has helped her to become one of the most powerful leaders in the series. Jon Snow has recognized her as his queen and they will both fight the White Walkers.
However, they are not aware that Viserion, one of her three dragons, has now become an Ice Dragon. This might increase the chances of Daenerys’ death. There also two other scenarios. The first is a possible betrayal by one of her allies, like Tyrion Lannister, in favor of his brother’s safety. The other is her loss of control and becoming a Mad Queen, just like her father, who is eventually killed. Her odds of being killed are now 1.4.
A lot can still happen in Season 8 of Game of Thrones, given its so famous unpredictability. But considering what has happened so far, chances are that the House of Stark will be the victorious family in the end. Who do you think is the most likely to die in season 8? Make a bet at 1xBET Sporstbook!
