The Game Awards is hailed by NY Times as “The Oscars of the gaming world”. The ceremony will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on December 6. We are bringing you the nominees for the best Esports coach Award. Zonic, Falco, and Yamato Cannon from CSGO and LoL are on top of the list.
According to online sportsbook news in the United States, the best Esports coach award will not go to Korea or China this year. Instead, it will be handed to a coach from one of top CSGO or League of Legends teams in Europe. As of now, Danny “Zonic” Sorensen, head coach of Astralis World No. 1 CSGO team, is the favourite. Dylan Falco, head coach of Fnatic top European team in LoL, and Jakob “Yamato Cannon” Mbedi head coach of Team Vitality are among top contenders.
Zonic Won FACIET, IEM & BLAST in 2018
Danny “Zonic” Sorensen, 32, has been Astralis team coach since 2015. This year alone, he helped his team winning FACIET Major, IEM Chicago, and BLAST ProSeries Istanbul. Zonic has a wealth of knowledge in tactics, communication, and team building. Astralis players consider him a part of the family. They even expressed their willingness to quit playing if he for some reason leaves Astralis.
Zonic was one of the most successful Danish players in CSGO. He won WCG 2008, WEM 2008, and the IEM III European Championship, when he was playing for mTw. He retired in 2012, and returned to the professional scene as a CSGO coach in 2015. According to Unibet Sportsbook, he is the favourite to win the best Esports coach award with odds at -118.
Falco Helped Fnatic Become the Best LoL Team in Europe
Dylan Falco has been coaching Fnatic for one year and a half. He helped his LoL team to finish the year as most successful team in Europe. Fnatic won two EU LCS splits in 2018, attended MSI, and made to the finals at Worlds. His success with Fnatic began directly after joining the team, reaching the quarterfinals at Worlds in 2017.
Before Fnatic, Falco coached EnVyUs and Immortals in North America. He had his ups and downs, but his journey with Fnatic was from one success to another. Therefore, he deserves the best Esports coach award for 2018, with +275 at Unibet Sportsbook.
Yamato Cannon Took 2018 EU LCS by Storm
Jakob “Yamato Cannon” Mbedi is the former Swedish LoL player and the current head coach of Team Vitality. He took the European region by storm during the 2018 EU LCS Spring Split.
