Colin Kaepernick and the new Just Do It campaign by Nike is the hottest topic in the United States today.
Nike’s new Just Do It campaign have stirred up the US publicity: everyone has an opinion on the matter, not all support it.
Online sportsbook news sites in the United States are always full of NFL news ahead of new seasons, but this time something else adds to the heated conversations: Nike launched their new Just Do It campaign, with Colin Kaepernick being the main face of the commercials. Which has lead to serious controversies within the USA, but more on that later.
”Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.”
Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything. Just Do It. Says the new Just Do It campaign at all Nike commercials. With the face of Colin Kaepernick in the background, making the whole thing perfectly credible and even more powerful. Kaepernick has become one of the most famous NFL players back in 2016.
He was the first NFL player to kneel down just before his match, while the national anthem if the USA was playing. With his action, he wanted to raise awareness towards police brutality in America against Afro-American citizens. And Nike’s sentence just becomes so much more meaningful coming from this guy.
Colin Kaepernick did sacrifice everything
Colin Kaepernick played for San Francisco 49ers. Up until the moment he took a stand. Or, well, a knee. You know what I mean: as soon as he knelt down during the national anthem, he was out of the NFL. He was out of Nike commercials as well. He wanted to call attention to police brutality in America and for that, he lost all he had.
He lost his job, he lost all his income. No NFL teams wanted to sign him after his actions. Now as a result of the new Just Do It campaign, his a main face once again, which makes many professional athletes quite happy. For example, Serena Williams tweeted that she was even happier to be part of the Nike team now because they run their campaign with Colin Kaepernick.
Not all supported Kaepernick’s movement…
Of course it’s not only the liberal and the leftist side who talk about the new Nike commercials. The Just Do It campaign also hit the rightist and the conservatives. Of course, if you do something unusual during your home country’s national anthem, you should expect to piss a few people off.
The moment Kaepernick knelt down during the national anthem, many people hated him immediately. Disrespecting the flag, disrespecting the nation, disrespecting the country, that’s all this is about, they said. You can talk about police brutality in America against Afro-American people but you don’t have to do that during the national anthem.
Conservatives and alt-rightists call for Nike Boycott
Now as the new Just Do It campaign was launched, all these voices are getting loud again. The NikeBoycott is among the most trending Twitter hashtags in the USA. Some people actually post videos of themselves burning all their Nike stuff, which is quite an interesting thing to do, but who am I to judge them?
If all the burning Nike shirts and shorts and shoes and jerseys weren’t enough of a sight to understand the Just Do It campaign’s controversy, you can also listen to some Republican politicians talking about the Kaepernick case. Or the President himself, who said that NFL players who disrespect the flag so much, should be fired immediately.
