2015 ATP Miami Masters Sees Bettors Focus On Djokovic, Nadal and Andy Murray

The Miami Masters tennis tournament is on again. This annual favorite is an Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour Masters 1000 event which is held annually throughout the year in Europe, North America and Asia and is one of the most respected tournaments in men’s tennis.
This year the tournament features Novak Djokovic as favorite for tennis fans who are betting on him via online sportsbooks in US. And for a good reason as the only male tennis players ever wing 8 of 9 singles titles in their tennis career. The young and talented Djokovic ranks number one so far in the ATP World Tour.

The Serb first cinched a second place in the singles in 2009 against Andy Murray. He won the singles title in 2011 beating Rafael Nadal, then in 2012 he conquered his 2009 opponent to win the championship 6–1, 7–6. Last year he again won the title against Nadal 6-3, 6-3. So far this year in the Indian Wells Tournament, Djokovic went up against Swiss tennis player Roger Federer, 6–3, 6–7, 6–2.

However, the Serbian had an unpleasant surprise at the star of the Miami Open as he fought to hod the reins against his opponent Alexandr Dolgopolov. Luckily, he overcame difficulties to triumph in the quarter-finals of the Miami Open. Dolgopolov, who ranks 65th male tennis player in the world, won the first-set tie-break and built a fast 4-2 lead in the second set. Djokovic then triumphed with a 6-7, 7-5, 6-0 score triumph which will see him up against against David Ferrer in the last eight after the Spanish beat Gilles Simon 7-6, 6-0 in just over one and half hours.

Also through to the quarters is the Britain’s Andy Murray who won Dominic Thiem 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, in three sets, to get to the Miami Open semi-final. The tennis player and is ranked 4th in the tournament. The truth be told Murray was struggling for the first hour against the Austrian, Thiem. He had to change strategy, working Thiem from side to side under the hot Florida sun, until exhaustion set in for the Austrian tennis player. Thiem proved himself a worthy opponent certainly especially after the easy win Murray had against Kevin Anderson.

Murray who suffered from has a shoulder injury that he incurred while stretching in prepararion for backhand volley, sent down ensuing double-faults on the next two points. Murray told on-court interviewer after his win against Thiem that “Dominic is a very strong guy who hits the ball hard and makes you do a lot of running. It makes for a very physical match when it’s as hot as it is today.” Despite Murray’s shaky 1h 43 ordeal, the Brit remains the British favorite in online gambling sites in US

But he threatens their position a bit and he’s now the British No. 2 comfortably as well. They can complain about it but the best thing to do is try and use it in the right way. He is British now; accept it for what it is.”

Apart from his win in 2009, Scottish-born Murray also capped the Miami Masters in 2013 against David Ferrer. As Miami Masters is an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event, the tournament, which runs in accordance with US gambling laws to enable bettors to choose their favorites, will distribute up to 1000 ATP Rankings points to the singles and doubles champions. The Men’s Single Finals will take place April 5, 2015.
