PSG celebrated winning the Ligue 1 title after a massive 7-1 victory over AS Monaco in the Principality, but this feat also meant that Dani Alves – the world’s most decorated football player – was able to claim yet another medal.

Humble beginnings led to superstardom

In total, Alves now boasts a whopping 37 trophies to this name that includes medals from both club and country success, per online sportsbooks in Brazil. And he doesn’t seem to be done yet, so this number could only go up if he stays with PSG for the foreseeable future, despite him being in his mid-thirties.

Dani Alves started off his pro career in his native Brazil with Bahia in 2001, but a year later he already tasted his first success by collecting the Copa do Nordeste medal. Shortly after that he was transferred to Spanish side Sevilla where Alves captured the hearts of the fans at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium, and it’s also the place that introduced him to his initial European success.

After five-and-a-half trophy-laden years with the Andalusian side, Barcelona came calling and Alves quickly got on a plane to join the Catalans in 2008, who were then in the process of restructuring their team but still managed to win every single competition that they entered that season, effectively handing the Brazilian six trophies in his first campaign. This included his first domestic league title and the most coveted trophy for any professional players – the Champions League title.

Calling the Nou Camp his home for eight years has rewarded Alves with a plethora of silverware, and it is actually his most successful period as a player, winning a total of 23 trophies between 2008 and 2016, when he left the Catalan powerhouse for Juventus. A Serie A title and Coppa Italia win were practically guaranteed with the Turin side, but after only a year with them Alves decided to be on the move once again. Last summer he linked up with PSG, a club that he has supposedly expressed a desire to play for a number of years prior, according to online sportsbooks in France.

And now, at nearly 35 years of age (May 6 is his birthday), Alves has collected the Ligue 1 title, along with already lifting the Coupe de la Ligue and the Trophee des Champions (last summer) with the Parisiens. It’s absolutely astonishing that he’s managed to fight age and keep a high level of fitness required for top football, relative to countless other players that start losing form and fitness once they reach his age.

On top of his super-impressive club success, the right-back has also won some minor trophies on the international stage. With Brazil, Alves lifted the Copa America in 2007 and then went on to clinch two consecutive FIFA Confederation Cups in 2009 and 2013 – the latter one being played on home soil, a year before the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
