Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is currently the Premier league’s joint-top scorer alongside Harry Kane with 24 goals. Both players have only two months to prove who deserves to be named as Premier League top goalscorer. Which one would you nominate?
It is shaping up to be a two-horse race between Tottenham and Liverpool stars for the Golden Boot. The race is tight between a new face added into this season Salah and the Premier’s two years Golden Boot Winner of 2015/16 and 2016/17 Kane. The two stars surprisingly share many things other than top scores in Premier League. According to online sportsbooks in the UK they have similar age, Salah (25) and Kane (24). They won Premier League Player of the Month twice this season, Salah in Nov and Feb, while Kane in Sept and Dec. Would they share same goal numbers at the end of this season, or one of them will finish as the Premier League top goalscorer?

Tottenham striker won the Premier’s Golden Boot award after topping the division’s scoring charts with 25 goals in 2015/16 season and 29 goals in 2016/17 season. He was the first Englishman to top the division’s scoring charts since Sunderland’s Kevin Philipps in 1999/2000.
In this season. Harry Kane has a good chance to achieve more goals than at the end of the last two seasons. If he keeps the pace of 0.71 goals per match which is a higher percentage than Mohamed Salah stats of 0.63 goals per match, albeit this is Salah’s first season with Liverpool. Both players share same appearances of 28, and they will probably continue racing for Premier League top goalscorer until May. Yet if we look at all different stats, Mo Salah is slightly advancing in the race.
Mohamed Salah vs. Harry Kane in stats
While Kane expected to stay in race until the end, in many ways Salah’s stats are more impressive until now. Salah had six assists so far, compared to Kane’s one. While Kane gets 57 percent of his shots on target, Salah gets 61 percent. In addition, Salah has scored a goal every 93 minutes on the pitch, compared to 97 with Kane. Obviously, if the trend continues the same between the two players, Salah may eventually outscore Kane by next May.
Would you pick Salah or Kane?
Apparently, it is a great competition and it will go on to be so until the last days of this season. Although it is hard to predict to whom the Premier’s Golden Boot will be awarded, Harry Kane remains heading Mo Salah at online betting sites in the UK. If you check Bet365 Sportsbook, the odds for Harry Kane are (1.66), while for Mo Salah they are (3.00). You can pick whoever you feel deserves more, but at the end the real winners will be us the audience, because the greater the race gets the more fun we will enjoy watching phenomenal goals in the two months left.
