In efforts to help raise additional revenue, Maltese officials are willing to grant permission to gaming groups to build casinos.
Gambling news reports that the leadership of Malta has shortlisted two companies which they are willing to grant the casino licenses to. The respective firms are Eden Leisure Group and Dragonara Gaming Ltd. Last May officials released a statement they are exploring the options of introducing casinos in Malta and another one in the North-West island of Gozo.
Although there was strong interest of developing a gaming facility in Gozo, the government couldn’t reach an agreement with prospective gaming groups and the deal was abandoned. However, the good news is that the plan to build a casino on Malta is still on and the officials are planning on making officials announcements pretty soon.
Proposed casinos would boost the economy
Eden Leisure Group is viewed as the ideal candidate to develop the ambitious gaming project, but the government leadership will most likely come to agreement for two concession deals. The proposal presented by Dragonara Gaming Ltd promises a great of benefits to the Maltese economy, for which reason it has managed to climb the latter to second favorite.
Mobile casinos report that the bidders were selection based on strong recommendations from an evaluation adjudication committee. Negotiations between the government and the two prospective casinos are set to commence immediately where they will attempt to iron out all the important details pertaining to the deal.
