With some below par performances this season, some managers of the Premier League are facing uncertainty over their employment.
Football in general is a results industry and bears a great deal of volatility in all areas, which leads to constant changes throughout every club. So even if one year a manager is successful and delivers a big title to his club, if he doesn’t replicate that same success the next season he may very well be sacked from his job.
While some exceptions exist in every big national competition, the Premier League is one example of that where the turnover of heads of clubs is high almost every year. Now one of the prime candidates to be facing unemployment are QPR’s manager Harry Redknapp and Newcastle’s long standing man in charge Alan Pardew.
Redknapp and Pardew among favorite to lose jobs
Both manager’s teams currently sit in the relegation zone after seven games played in the beginning of the Premier League season. Newcastle are in 18th place and have not managed to record a single win, either home or away, while they have drawn 4 time and lost a total of 3 matches. Their goal difference is one of the worst in the league with -7.
Queens Park Rangers for that matter are in a worse position on the table than Alan Pardew’s men. They are last in 10th place with only 4 points and an overall goal difference of -11. They have managed to win one game and draw another at home, however QPR has so far lost a total of 5 games. Things don’t seem to be getting better for The Hoops.
Considering the bleak prospects and the current standings of the two teams, online sportsbooks in UK don’t have very high hopes for the managers of these two teams. From all the managers that may be sacked pretty soon, Unibet ranks Alan Pardew as the favorite to lose his job as the head of Newcastle with odds of 1.60 (3/5).
While the former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp is the second in line according to Unibet, 3.50 (5/2). Despite rumors of his potential imminent sacking, QPR owner Tony Fernandes has issued a statement in which he has expressed his support for Redknapp and might allow his to stay on head to fulfill his ambitions with the club.
Irvine, Dyche and Allardyce among other candidates to lose their roles
The heads of QPR and Newcastle are not alone in their dire situations. There are also some other notable names that mobile betting providers have identified that may be walking out their clubs’ doors some time soon. Unibet has predicted that three more men may accompany Redknapp and Pardew as the potential managers to be out of a job.
• Premier League has a high manager turnover
• Redknapp and Pardew not as successful this season
• Alan Irvine third favorite to be sacked as head of West Brom
Sean Dyche was a force to be reckoned with last season as he oversaw Burnley’s promotion to the Premier League. However things proved quite tougher once they entered the top tier of English football, as the performance demands also increased. Burnley are now sitting in 19th place tied on points with both QPR and Newcastle. Dyche’s sacking chances are 17.00 (16/1).
West Brom had a tumultuous summer which saw some pretty big changes occur. The club appointed Alan Irvine to lead them through the season and ensure they stay in the elite competition. Unlike the previously mentioned clubs, West Brom are not facing imminent danger as they sit four places atop of the relegation zone in 14th position.
Despite that, some rumors have surfaced that the club may not be pleased with the current situation and they may look to make some changes to improve their standing. Unibet has given the manager odds of 8.00 (7/1) to be sacked form his position. Taking into account that the last three game have ended with victories, the board may look to reconsider.
Sam Allardyce has been in charge of the Hammers since 2011 and has guided to 7th place this season. They are currently in front of both Arsenal and Liverpool on the table with 3 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses. Gambling news reports that although their performance has been solid up until now, Allardyce has odds of 17.00 (16/1) to lose his position as head of the club.
