Sports Betting in Lithuania
Gambling in Lithuania has only been legal since 2001. Before that, limited illegal sports betting took place, but it has really been during the last few years that bookmakers have come into demand in the country and that sportsbooks have started to become popular. Football is the most popular sport to place a wagers on.

There are three major bookmakers in Lithuania. The biggest is TopSport, which received its license in 2002, and today operates several dozen betting shops in Lithuania. Orakulas is also quite popular. Another is Omnibet, which is perhaps the least well known, and the only one to offer wagers on Greyhoud racing. In 2008 Baltic Bet was licensed in Lithuania – the company will provide bets on horse and dog races in other Baltic countries to the Lithuanian public.

Online gambling in Lithuania is unregulated and there are currently no laws that prevent Lithuanians from gambling on the internet. All three of Lithania's top sportsbook operators accept bets online. TopSport, Orakulas, and Ombnibet each run their own online sportsbook and each covers their own unique selection of events and matches. The sites are aimed at a Lithuanian customer base, and only TopSport offers services in English.

There are other options for internet betting available to Lithuanians – these are the large, international online sports betting sites that run from other countries. While these sites probably won't offer their services in Lithuanian, they may offer a wider selection of events to wager on, and could also have better odds.
