Poker in Morocco
Poker is slowly starting to catch on in Morocco. The country has only a few casinos where poker games are offered and there are no Moroccan poker halls around. This limits the game's exposure. Recently, tours and tournaments have started up, which is helping spread the word about this game. In October 2009 the World Poker Tour will be stopping in Morocco, which is sure to have a big impact. Another major Moroccan poker tour is the Marrakech Poker Open at the Casino de Marrakech.

Online Poker in Morocco
Online poker is also getting bigger in Morocco. One big impetus is the use of online poker sites to run satellites for local poker tournaments. The Marrakech Poker Open was partially sponsored by an online poker room that is hosted overseas. This site offers members a chance to win a spot in the next Marrakech Poker Open, where the prize pool may get as high as $1 million. Foreign poker rooms are the only places Moroccans can play online poker because there are no Moroccan internet poker sites today.
