Poker in Chile
Poker in Chile is not popular yet, but it is starting to get noticed. The country only has a dozen major casinos and these have just been around since the early 1990s, because before that time gambling in Chile was banned. Most Chilean casinos have poker tables where players can enjoy the game. The first major poker tournament in Chile was the Latin American Poker Tour that held an event at the Vina del Mar, Chile's largest casino, in early 2009. More than 200 players paid the $2,500 entry fee for this historic event. The winner took home more than $140,000. More poker tournaments in Chile are sure to happen in the future.

Online Poker in Chile
Online poker is a good way for Chilean players to enjoy real money poker games, especially if they can't get to a casino to join a table. Online poker sites cannot be licensed in Chile, but foreign poker sites are often open to Chilean players. These are not always available in Spanish, but some of the biggest and best online poker rooms support many languages. The Chilean government is very free about letting Chilean players use foreign online poker websites, and does nothing to prevent it from happening. Perhaps in the future, they will even give licenses to companies that will allow them to open online poker in Chile.
