Denmark online casino regulators introduce gambling accreditation standards to protect players.

In order to provide fairness and compliance with the Danish gambling laws, the country is introducing oversight and certification for online casinos which provide services to players in Denmark.

The independent certification company, eCOGRA, will now test and approve online casinos, including mobile casinos in Denmark. Furthermore, this agency will also check on casino software providers and casino affiliates.

eCOGRA has already passed tough standards imposed by the United Kingdom, extended its international accreditation under ISO standards, and is ready to enter the Danish market.

Existing and new operators will need to be certified under multiple standards which include gambling operations, business management, anti-terrorist and anti-money laundering measures, security, and change management.

Now, those who will play online casino in Denmark will get extra protective measures. The agency also provides accreditation services in Spain and Italy and is looking to expand internationally.

The approach taken by the European Union nations seeks to approve online gambling but with proper oversight that checks on the legitimacy of casino games, prevents illicit operators from entering the mainstream, while creating jobs and tax revenues.

This is in sharp contrast to many other nations which don’t allow gambling. This results in players either going to offshore casinos, some of which aren’t regulated, or underground betting outfits where the games are rigged.

That is not to say that all offshore casinos aren’t legitimate. Many, indeed, are reputable businesses licensed in places such as Gibraltar, Malta, or British Channel Islands.
