Danish online gambling regulator, SKAT, is working closely together with a number of other European regulators to turn Danish gambling laws
into one of the best set of regulation in the world.
SKAT was created by the Danish government to investigate, regulate and govern all online gambling in the country. During its short history, the regulator can already boast Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with the regulators of following European jurisdictions: Malta, Gibraltar, Alderney, Jersey and the Isle of Man.
The above-mentioned agreements were signed to allow closer and more thorough cooperation and partnership between the regulators. The collaboration will enable sharing ideas and information related to online casinos in Denmark
, particularly player protection, enforcement, licensing and regulatory procedures.
Denmark will also share licensees with some of these jurisdictions. In these cases the MOU will also help avoid double licensing requirements, and will enable convenience of sharing responsible gambling projects as well as employee exchange programs.
On a more specific note, Denmark gambling news
underlined that MOUs will allow operators regulated in the jurisdictions falling into MOUs coverage to provide online gambling offerings in Denmark without the need to comply with specific Danish regulations for gaming servers to be hosted within the country borders.
The Danish regulator, SKAT, commenced overseeing about forty licensees in January 2012 and already managed to share poker liquidity on an international level, and avoid problems arising from extremely restrictive regulatory regimes like France is having now.
