Casinos in Thailand
Thailand has no legal casinos. There is one simple reason for this – most gambling in Thailand is illegal. There are many illegal, underground Thai casinos, but these are not safe to play at. The most obvious risk is the possibility of getting in legal trouble for gambling in public. Also, illegal casinos in Thailand offer no player protection, so if a casino does not pay out, there is not much the player can do.

Players in Thailand who want to enjoy casino gambling often cross the border into places like Poipet in Cambodia. The Thai government does not like this, since it means the gambling money is profiting Cambodia's economy instead of Thailand's. In a recent speech, the Prime Minister of Thailand alluded to coming out of the gambling "dark ages". This might mean Thai casinos are on the horizon.
