Casinos in Indonesia
There are no casinos in Indonesia, because gambling in the country is illegal. Indonesia is predominantly Muslim, and all forms of gambling, including casino gambling, are prohibited under Islam. While there are some places that offer casino gambling in Indonesia, especially in larger cities, these are underground clubs that are closely guarded and often raided by police.

In 2008, the Indonesian government considered legalizing casino gambling on the island of Bintan, in an effort to boost local tourism. The status of the bill is yet to be decided, but if it passes, the resulting Indonesian casinos will only be open to foreign, non-Muslim players. The island is already a tourist resort destination, and it is thought that a few casinos would increase its popularity.
